Hybrids and Humans: A BTS Story (AU)

When I reached my first class, I sat down in my usual spot, waiting for the teacher to arrive. Even though I trusted that the hybrids would be fine, I couldn't help but worry about them not being able to adjust to school quite yet, especially since they had been sick not too long ago. 

I hope they'll be fine.

My thoughts were interrupted by the teacher's arrival. Sighing, I did my best to follow along with the teacher as they went through the day's lesson.

The day seemed to drag on for me. Even band seemed slow to me, which was usually one of the more faster-paced classes. Finally, I reached a break from the slow pacing with lunch. Even though I probably wouldn't be able to see any of the hybrids as they were probably in other spots depending on their age, I at least knew they'd be alright.

Sitting at my usual spot, I was accompanied by my usual group of friends, which included Youngjae, BamBam (the one that had, along with Jackson, given me the hybrids), and Yugyeom, along with Mina, of course, and finally, Baekhyun.

"Sooo...how are the hybrids, Melody?", Mina asked.

"They're cool", I told her. "They got sick yesterday, along with myself, henceforth why I was gone". I wondered if I should tell Mina about yesterday's events, but I wasn't sure of how she'd react if I did, especially if Judy and Joanne did turn out to be her missing cousins, so I decided not to say anything for now.

We continued to talk about everything going on, from the spring events and sports to the school band to literally just random things. When the bell for lunch to end finally rang, I bid most of my friends goodbye as I walked with Mina to my next class, continuing a conversation, before a question popped up.

"So...you know how you told me about...you know, who you like?", she asked.

"Yesss", I said cautiously. "Why?"

"I'm starting to think he likes you too...Why else would he skip school just because you were sick?" she mentioned. "And don't think I don't know about that", she added.

"I don't know...I always thought he liked someone else"

"Why would you think..."

She trailed off, her jaw wide open as if she was just hit with the biggest slap of reality right then and there.

a/n: if that isn't me though-

"Mina...?", I asked.

She snaps out of her trance, before turning back to me.

"Oh...it's nothing...I thought I saw something", she said.

I was about to reply when the bell rang, in which both of us had to hurry to class before the teacher noticed we were late.

I finally ended the school day and went to go rally up the hybrids. Once I had collected all of them, I was about to leave when someone stopped me.

"Melody! Wait up!"

I turned around to see who had called my name and found BamBam and Youngjae trying to catch up.

"Oh hey guys!", I responded. Then I noticed someone was missing, as I was used to seeing all three of them. "Where's Yugyeom?", I finally asked.

"Umm...he's...", BamBam started, before turning to Youngjae, who just hit him on the head.
