"so since you know i didn't sign with edmonton, i got traded to the penguins." john said as he sat down on my bed in my room.

i looked up from my hard, university homework with my mouth wide open, "you're kidding."

"100% serious." he nodded.

"oh my gosh, are you going to sign with them?" i asked.

"have to see if i make it, training camp ya know." he looked like a little kid in a candy shop, he was so excited.

"i am so proud of you." i gave him a hug.

"thank you."

"so," i pulled away, "when are we moving to pittsburgh?"

year 2019

the start of the season was happening soon and john was still waiting to see if he would make the team.

"i found out if i make the team today." john said as we were watching some tv.

"nervous, cause i am." i looked at him.

"yeah, pretty nervous." he nodded.

"i'm proud of you no matter what." i smiled at him.

"i know you are." he smiled back.

a few hours later i was laying in our bed and john walked in.

"hi." i said.

"i made the team." he beamed.

shock and excitement ran through me, "no you didn't."

"yeah i did."

"holy crap, john." i stood up and wrapped my arms around his neck.

"you're going to play in the nhl," i whispered, "the nhl!"

he laughed. "yeah, i will be."

year 2020

so, like many others in quarantine, we got a dog.

a newfoundland named kobe.

yeah, newfies are big dogs but i've had big dogs in the past so i know how to train one.

he's been the best. he's a great cuddler, mostly because he just lays on top of you.

when we get back to john leaving for games, kobe and i are going to be inseparable.

he's quite the mama's boy.

when the time came for john to leave for the bubble, kobe wasn't too happy about it.

he wanted his dad to stay. he's going to have to get used to dad leaving, sadly.

"good luck." i gave john a hug before he got into kasperi kapenen's car to go to the airport.
