alex was on a long road trip and i was left to take care of our twins, cameron and andy.

when alex was on a road trip, i always facetimed him so he could see the kids. i know he missed them so much so i try to bring a sense of normalcy to him.

putting the kids to bed is always an experience because they never seem in the mood to go to sleep.

i put andy down quickly because she's the easier kid. cameron on the other hand, biggest trouble maker ever.

once i got them down, i went into our room and laid down and went on my phone. patiently waiting for sleep to come.

a few minutes later, i heard the front door open. crap my worst nightmare of someone breaking in has come true.

i grabbed my phone and went to the hallway where you could see the entryway.

a guy in a black hoodie and black sweatpants was closing the door.

"alex?" the guy turned around and looked up and saw me.

"alex oh my gosh, what are you doing here?" i practically ran down the stairs to him.

"i lied that we needed to stay in ottawa longer then necessary." he hugged me and i hugged him back.

"i missed you so much. i'm sure the girls did too."

"of course they did. every day, 'mama where's dada?', 'when's dada coming home?' they missed you."

"well i missed them." we walked up the stairs to our room where he unpacked his bag and got ready for bed.

i laid down in the bed and snuggled into the covers, waiting for alex to come to bed.

he laid down next to me and we came together like magnets, attached and snuggled.

and we slept and slept and slept.

the next morning

when i woke up, i went to go get the twins and give alex a taste of his own medicine and surprise him with the kids to wake him up.

i laid cameron and andy down at the end of the bed and they used their newly developed crawling skills to crawl on alex.

the crawled on his back and he woke up, a little abruptly.

"hi girls." he whispered to them.

"dada! dada dada dada!" they screamed. they were so excited to see him and you could tell they missed him so much.

this is the life i love, my life with alex and the twins.
