i walked into the locker room at ppg paints arena in time for morning practice and sat down on at my stall.
normally, i like to get there early so i can have my peace and quiet before the rush and busyness before the game. i'm normally one of the first or first.
walking into the team gym, i put my airpods in and put on my playlist while starting up the treadmill.
i started my workout with some walking while answering some emails.
today, we're playing the rangers which is going to be a tough series for everyone, especially me. why? because my brother's igor shesterkin.
it's always tough playing my brother because when he makes a great save, i'm happy for him. when he's lets goals in, i'm excited because we scored but i feel bad for him.
it's weird.
around halfway through walking, i heard a door open and i looked towards the door to see who it was.
it was evgeni malkin, my boyfriend of nine months.
"hello cosette, how are you?" evgeni asked.
"good, you?" i asked him back.
"tired." he walked towards me and starting on the treadmill next to me.
"understandable."
some guys walked in over time and started doing their personal workouts and they were quite confused because we were speaking russian which they couldn't understand.
it's funny honestly, to speak in a language no one else knows and then looking at you with wide eyes.
we started warmups and people were still just as confused.
"hey sid." i said to sidney as he got on the ice.
"hey cosette, i see some of the guys are mad at you and geno speaking russian."
"we've been playing with them all morning, they're losing it."
sid laughs, "wouldn't expect anything else from them."
