He had let go of your hand and slung his book bag over his shoulder as he hops off the chair next to you bed. He's startled when you take a deep and shaky breath without the machine. He turns and stares at you as you look around with terrified eyes.
"Help!" He screams into the hall and runs back next to you as you scratch your throat. A nurse runs in and see's you and calls for help.
In a matter of minutes they've calmed you down and have carefully removed the tube from your throat. You reach out to Ace and he runs into your arms and clings to you. You hug him while running a hand through his hair.
"Ace.." You choke out, the tube left your throat feeling scratchy and it hurt to try and speak. The nurse quickly explains that you should wait awhile before trying to talk. You agree to be silent and smile down at Ace who had started crying. You pointed to the whiteboard on the wall and then to yourself, Ace gets up and grabs it, handing it to you.
'What's happened while I was gone?' You wrote and showed the board to him. It takes him a minute to read it and he sighs.
"I've been living with Whitebeard, Luffy is with Shanks, and Sabo was taken!" He says, almost yelling when he said where Sabo was. You frown a bit, and write down that you'll get him back, legally he is still your child so they can't keep him now that your awake.
Ace grins widely and crawls onto your lap while hugging you. You write down something else and show him.
'Where's my phone?' It says, he points to the table next to your bed, so you lean over and open the drawer.
'Oh' You mouth silently as you pull it out, it was off so you turned it on. Thank god someone turned it off or it would be dead right now!
You write something on the board again and show it to Ace.
"I'm going to call Shanks I'll write down some things I want you to tell him okay?' It says and he nods after he reads it. You call Shanks and hand the phone to Ace.
"Hey Shanks!" Ace greets the man with a large grin on his face.
"(Name)'s Awake!" He almost yells into the phone. You hear him cheering through the phone as Ace's grin widens, you couldn't help but smile at the two of them. You write down a few things and he reads them off.
"She wants me to ask you a few things, she can't talk right now so she wrote them down...Shanks says okay." Ace says, directing the last thing to you. He looks at the first thing.
"It says...for one thing give back Luffy!" Ace says and you can hear Shanks laugh and say something.
"He says of course!" Ace laughs a bit and you grin. He looks at the next thing and frowns.
"Have you seen Law?"He asks, but there was silence for a moment.
"He's still missing..." Ace says and your throat tightens as you write something down and show him. Ace takes a moment before sighing.
"Find Kid, she says." Ace tells him as Shanks says something.
"He says that Kid's fallen off the radar too..." Ace says and you look worried. What do you do...?
You write something down and show Ace.
"She says that she needs your help with Sabo, cause if Law is gone she doesn't know who to count on for backup?" He says as Shanks responds you erase the board.
"He says he can't, he's been looking for Law and Kid too..." Ace answers back and you sigh.
You think for a moment, you knew if you asked Zoro would help you, and Mihawk did owe you a favor...and Robin is always happy to help, considering she just likes to see how it ends up, Doflomingo is the same way...Cora wouldn't help until we found Law...
You smile and nod to Ace, signaling that was all. Ace says by to Shanks, not giving him time to say anything else to you. You smile a bit, Shanks would be a bit unhappy at this.
A nurse comes in and says visiting times are over, but the look on Ace's face made her feel bad so she said he could sleep in here as long as he's quiet. He quickly agrees and crawls onto the bed next to you. You grin at him and he grins back. It's obvious he missed you. You hug him and sigh.
"I missed you buddy..!" You let out in a hoarse whisper, he smiles and hugs back.
"I missed you to (Name) I'm sorry I didn't help you I should have I-" You shush him and just hold him when he tries to apologize again you smile and shake your head.
"It will never...be your fault..." You told him, kissing him on his forehead.
He turned on the TV fifteen minutes later, and about ten minutes after that Luffy flies into the room.
"(Naaaaame)!" He cries, jumping onto the bed and onto your lap. You hug him as he clings to you. Ace frowns at him, he was so loud he couldn't hear the TV. Luffy looks at Ace and then jumps on him.
"Aaaaaace!" He cries and the freckled boy looks confused.
"Why the hell are you hugging me!?" He yells, smacking Luffy on the head.
Luffy just grins at him and laughs, ignoring the pain on his head.
"Now that (Name) is awake we can be a family again!" He says happily, Ace freezes for a moment then smiles.
"Yeah..." He says before laughing, you smile at the both of them and pull them into a hug.
You are happy you had them both, but your still two people short...
You blushed a bit when you realized you were counting Law, the boys see your face and look at you confused but you just shook your head and grinned at them.
"Now all we need is Sabo..." You whispered quietly and both boys grin and nod.
"We'll get him back...I'm tired of being nice...I'll make sure they don't bother us again.." You whispered, your throat hurting some more. You quiet down and smile at them. You think about what your going to do in the next few weeks...
They were hurting your children, hurting you, hurting your friends...
You frown a bit, getting angry.
By the time you get done, they'll think twice before messing with you again...
But should you worry about Law first...or Sabo?
