Chapter 13

I sat in my room. Alone. I stared into the night sky through my skylight while I lay motionless on my bed. Everything was eerily silent except for the small tick of the clock on my wall. I wasn't speaking to my family, and I bet a million bucks they didn't feel like dealing with me either. For whatever reason I still wasn't sure of, my family was falling apart. Or, at least, I felt like I was breaking away.

All I wanted was the truth. What was the big secret? Why does Patrick claim I'm not part of this family? Why was my mother, I believe, attempting to erase my memory? So many questions, yet I knew I was no where near getting them answered. And the only person I could trust to help me was Jack.

Jack...just thinking of him brought a smile to my lips. I swear, if it wasn't for him my life wouldn't be worth living for. Not that I was living anyways, or whatever state of being I am. Whatever, I was still in this world, which counted for something.

Anyways, it would be nice for Jack to be hear right now. Oh, how I wish he was holding me in his arms this very moment, just whispering to me sweet nothings. And we would just...be. Happy, content, free of the worlds secrets, fears, and evils.

Speaking of Jack...I actually sensed him near. My gut feeling I've learned to love instead of hate. It meant my lover was near, and I would be with him soon enough. I heard a tap on my window, and I immediately sprung off the bed and flew open the window, sending a breeze into my still room.

Of course he was down there with his pebbles, just like the first time he had come to my home. Not that I wasn't overjoyed to see him, but what was he doing here?

"What are you doing, stranger?" I whispered to him with a playful smile on my face.

"Why, none other then to take my lady from her imprisonment. May I rescue you, my dear Elsie." he whispered back with a bow. He was classy. Cute.

I bit my lip as I glanced back towards the door of my room, trying to listen for movement of anyone else in the house who might be listening. All I herd was silence. I looked back down at him and played along. "Yes, you may rescue me, dear Jack."

He beamed with happiness as he managed to climb up the wall of my house and make it to my window sill. Once he made it our eyes locked and I could see every feature of him in the moonlight. His perfectly placed hair, his mesmerizing eyes. I held my breath as he came closer, but didn't kiss me. Instead, he whispered into my ear "Let me take you away. I have a surprise."

I nodded as he opened up his arms for me, and I lept into them. He held me close as my arms were around his neck, never letting go. Jack then jumped from my window, and in a few moments had both feet solidly on the ground. He put me down the grabbed mt hand, and started running towards down town.

"Um, Jack, where are me going? The woods are in the other direction." I asked him in confusion.

He cocked his head at me as we still kept running. "We're not going to the woods, silly! I have another special location in mind for us. You'll see."

I shrugged and didn't bother asking any more questions, knowing whatever it is would be amazing as long as we were together. We soon passed down town, all the stores closed and ghost like. There was no one left around except for a few cars driving home or just passing through.
