Chapter 9

It was funny how things in life happen so fast. And when that stuff does come fast, usually it comes unexpectedly. And I guess one of those moments was happening to me right now. I had always wanted to fall in love, but I just never knew what to expect from it. And maybe this was the start to finally finding out what its was like to get something that I had always wanted.

Finally excepting the fact that me and Jack were mates opened up my eyes to what was really in front of me. A guy who truly cared, who truly understood, even if we did only meet a couple of days ago. It was enough to know in my heart this was a guy I would want to spend the rest of my life with. The only problem was breaking this to my family.

Just the fact that Jack wasn't a vampire was preposterous. But a werewolf? I was as good as dead in my house when they found out. What would my mother say if her perfect little vampire wasn't as perfect as she thought? I don't even want to know.

I tried to forget about that and focused more on me and Jack on our walk to his house. He told me he'd introduce me to his parents and I could stay for dinner if I wanted. Even though eating wouldn't do anything for my taste buds, I could be kind enough to nibble at whatever his mother cooked.

"The Florence residents its just a over the hill." Jack said as we skipped like fools down the path. I swear to god it looked like were going down the yellow brick road. He stopped for a second and glanced at me and back up towards the hill that would lead us to his house. "How fast can a vampire run anyways?"

Um, ok random much. "I don't know. Pretty fast. Why?"

        He shrugged. "I don't know....you think you're faster then a werewolf?"

"I could bet my money on it."

"Well well then, Miss Elsie Amber, I challenge you to a race from here to my front porch. Do you except the challenge?"

Whoa, he seriously didn't think he could out match me? This was going to be interesting. "Oh its on, wolf boy."

He winked at me and began to crouch down. "I thought you'd say that." We locked eyes and nodded at each other as we stood by to start the friendly competition. "On my mark.....Get set....G-"

"GO!" I screamed, getting a head start from him. Sometimes you couldn't be fair if you wanted to win. Plus cheating was such a flirty move.

He sprang from behind when he realized I started early and immediately transformed into a wolf. He howled and barked as he tried to catch up, but I was to fast for him. Hee hee!

We dodged branches and leapt over rocks and dashed through piles of leaves in a blinding speed. We were like ghosts, silently gliding through the forest. I couldn't even feel my feet touch the ground, like I was hovering over every surface.

Soon enough he caught up to me at the top of the hill, and we were neck and neck. I could see his house! We both ran down hill in lightning speed as we were both determined to reach the porch before the other. I could see the determination in his eyes as I felt mine throughout every course of my body.

We were now just a few feet away from the house, and we were legit right on top of eachother. He slid into my running path and knocked me over for just one second. But in that second he was somehow able to reach the porch before me, leaving me angry but also wanting to burst out in laughter.

"Nice try, Vamp girl, but I won!" he chuckled.

"Only because you tripped me at the last second! What was that about!?"
