Matías POV
❀⊱┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄⊰❀

"You cannot sit in my lap. I have to drive." I was met with no response, just a blank expression and a head tilt. Groaning to myself because I knew there was no way she was going to move.

"Fine, you can stay, but I'm throwing you out the window if you pee on me." She barked and laid down on my lap and I slightly smiled to myself.

That night, Génesis and I stayed up all night talking. She mentioned she wanted a puppy, a husky to be exact, so I came to the local animal shelter to find a husky. She was also very specific that she wanted to adopt and not purchase animals because she rather save them from euthanization, which makes me love her even more.

If someone would've told me a year or even five years ago, I'd have to marry someone for the sake of my business and I'd fall in love with her the moment I met her I would've told them to fuck off. She makes me want to be a better person in every aspect of my life, not in the way where I don't want to kill or torture people that'll never change. However, for the people around me, she makes me softer.

The thought of a family never crossed my mind that it could be any bigger than Mama, Mateo, and I. Now I have this huge family that treats me no different. Sure it was rocky at first but it smoothed over in no time.

I still felt like I needed to make it up to Gén and I know gifts won't make up for how I treated her over those few weeks, but I hoped the puppy would smooth things over some. Especially since I had to go back to handling business today. Starting the car the puppy, who I have yet to name, looked up at me. He had the same eye condition as Gén, heterochromia which is what sold the deal on him in the first place.

Génesis' eyes usually have me start struck in the first place, they're so unique which makes her even more special. I adore everything about her from her eyes, to the way she scrunches her nose when she's eating something good, to the way she wiggles her toes when she's enjoying the plot of a book she's reading.

I could go on about her for days, but my phone buzzing pulled me out of my thoughts. I picked up my phone placing it in front of my face to unlock it and focus on the road. I saw I had a text from Mateo.

Teo: Meet me at the usual at 7 pm, we have an emergency meeting with a client.

Rolling my eyes I texted back letting him know I'd be there, I sat my phone back down in the seat next to me. It was only 1:57 pm right now so I still had plenty of time to stop and get things for the puppy room. I refuse to have this demon terrorizing my room, so I had a room decorated for him.

After buying everything I knew he needed and everything he touched in Pet Smart and Petco I decided he had enough things for now. I knew Génesis was going to spoil him, even more, it's just in her nature, but I thought I'd get a head start. The truck was filled to capacity you'd think we were expecting a child with the amount of shit I bought. Not to mention the things I had bought in bulk.

He was starting to grow on me and I didn't mind him sitting in my lap that much anymore. It was only 2:36 pm so I'd still have plenty of time to help her put stuff together in his room and get ready for this meeting. I was so focused on Gén and the puppy that I hadn't realized I didn't ask who the meeting was with or who it was about.

When it came to Gén all of my natural instincts went out of the window, being near her turned me completely feral and just thinking about her could make me hard. That'd be inappropriate with a puppy on my lap so I won't.

Adopting this puppy reminded me of the first time I lost respect for my own father.

"You will take this gun and vas a matar a este maldito perro," my father spat at me. I was only eight, I loved animals I didn't want to kill an innocent dog.
