Génesis POV
❀⊱┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄⊰❀Waking up my head felt very heavy as if I had been hit by a freight train, which in fairness of everything it had. After leaving Matías' office I found Sofía sound asleep in the spot that usually would've been his. I reached my arm over with my eyes still being closed and felt nothing but a cold spot.
Jumping up and opening my eyes I realized that she was gone and from the spot being cold she had been for a while.
Not again.
I couldn't handle another person going missing from my life, real or not it would send me over the edge for sure this time. Jumping out of bed I grabbed my robe and began running all over the manor looking for her. I was calling her name but there was no response, Stitch ran upstairs hearing me frantically yell for her, and began barking like he usually does when he wants me to follow him.
I abided figuring he knew who I was looking for and he led me to the kitchen, to a sight I never thought I'd be so happy to see.
It was Mat and Sof in the kitchen singing and dancing while making breakfast. I let out a heavy sigh knowing that she was okay, but the sight of them singing and dancing like a true father-daughter duo brought tears to my eyes.
"You know a note would've been nice, rather than a heart attack," they both turned around. When Sof realized it was me she ran up to me and jumped on me, I caught her giving her the biggest hug.
I loved her as if she were my own and the thought of something happening to her was a fear I never wanted to see come true.
"Mat and I made you heart-shaped pancakes," she was so adorable everything she did unintentionally made me love her as my child even more. It'd just suck if she preferred to go back home.
I highly doubted it but it was still a possibility in the back of my mind.
"Well, how can I say no to heart-shaped pancakes," I put her down and made my way over to Matías, who was pouring various drinks into pitchers.
"Buenos días," I said trying to sound as happy as I felt.
It still felt weird for him to be back after just getting used to his absence. I had gotten used to spending morning convincing myself to get out of bed and feel something other than sorrow.
"Buenos días mi amor, go take a seat I have this. I also already applied whatever that god-awful stuff Camila made on her face."
I was taken aback that he managed to take care of Sof and fall into the father role within a matter of hours. I knew he saw how much she meant to me and this was his way of showing me he was trying to make up for being gone.
I stood on my tiptoes and kissed him on his cheek to show my appreciation that words wouldn't have been able to cover. He looked at me in shock, I knew he wasn't expecting such physical formalities this soon but it was normal for me to do so. Even with him being gone for so long, those habits were still rooted in me.
Taking a moment to recollect himself, he smiled softly at me but we were soon interrupted hearing a gagging sound come from the side of the room. In true Sofía form, she was making a disgusted face with her tongue poked out and gagging. I wasn't sure if her gagging was fake or real but it caused us to laugh either way.
It was moments like this I forgot all about the outside world and what our families were tied into, then it dawned on me.
Did our families even know he was alive?
