Génesis POV
❀⊱┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄⊰❀"Will you ever fully trust me again?"
The car ride had been dead silent up until now, it wasn't necessarily uncomfortable, but I wouldn't classify it as 'comfortable either.
"I do trust you; I'm just having a hard time showing it right now. If I didn't trust you, I would be going to see him by myself."
It was the truth, but I felt like the minute I gave him my trust again he was just going to leave again and I'm not too sure he'd come back next time.
"I don't care what it is I have to do or what it is you ask of me I'll do it. Solo quiero que mi amiga vuelva."
I smiled to myself because I was terrified of looking at him, whenever I looked at him too long, I felt like I was on the verge of breaking down. I knew he was here, but when I just started to feel like myself again, he here was making me rethink everything from over the years.
Was bad enough I was already beating myself up for considering going out with someone else.
"How would you have felt if I went on the date with Cristián?"
I finally turned to look his way and I didn't miss the way his hands gripped the wheel. He looked at me briefly and focused his attention back on the road. I didn't expect an answer with how long he was taking.
"Lo hubiera matado, and then I would've probably kidnapped you."
My brows furrowed in confusion, "for what?! Terrify me even more?! You realize you could've just come out the shadows the same way you did, correct?"
He shrugged slightly, "not enough of dramatic effect for my wife thinking someone could ever make her feel as good as I could."
"You're such a drama king, it's annoying." I shook my head chuckling to myself when we finally reached the address.
For a second, I thought we were at the wrong location because the house was so rundown and torn apart, I couldn't believe Sofía had been living in such conditions. I practically tore off my seatbelt and ran out the car when Matías opened my door, to make sure I was seeing things correctly.
I heard him close the door behind me, but I was too infuriated with the sight in front of me to pay attention to any other surroundings.
The ceiling was caving in, the cement was chipping and peeling off all around the house, and I'm sure there was a hole so big that I could see into the living room. It was clear what his priorities were and having a stable and safe environment for his child wasn't one. Without even thinking I ran up was left of the small stairs and banged on the front door.
Not to my surprise, no one answered. I turned and looked at Mat who was already moving me out the way to kick the door in with ease. Not that he would've had much trouble anyway the fucking door was on its last fucking hinge.
Seems like the door and I had a lot in fucking common.
Once we were inside, the smell of cigarettes and alcohol immediately hit me in the nose making me nauseous instantly. That alone answered a lot of questions I had, not only was he a sorry excuse for a father, era un maldito borracho.
I covered my nose and mouth trying to mask some of the smell, following behind Mat as he guided me over broken glass and empty Corona bottles that were scattered across the floor. The house wasn't big, but it made me sad because if it wasn't for it being so rundown it'd have so much potential to not only be a house, but a home.
