Génesis POV
❀⊱┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄⊰❀

Feeling the truck come to a halt, I opened my eyes, not even realizing I had fallen asleep. After a day filled with nuggets and taking Sofía shopping for anything she might need for this weekend. On top of anything, she wanted from books to toys to say I was beat was an understatement, but seeing her laid in my lap, softly snoring made my heart smile in a way it hadn't in three years.

Emiliano got out and opened my door and began reaching for Sof. I held my hand up to stop him, knowing if she woke and he was carrying her, she might panic. Especially with what her father did. I didn't want to scare or traumatize her any more than she already was.

"I'll take her, you get the bags," I smiled at him and he returned it, understanding the underlined message I was trying to relay.

I unbuckled our seatbelts and repositioned her so she was easier to hold as I got out. I slid slowly out of the backseat making sure not to wake her. By the time my feet hit the ground, I realized there was no point because she was completely out cold and probably would be for the rest of the night.

I laughed to myself and held her close to me holding her head to my chest so she wouldn't hurt her neck. As the men worked on getting the bags into the house I entered running into Aurora and Mateo in the foyer. I was happy to see Rora as always, but Mateo on the other hand? Not so much.

Our relationship was still strained since that day in the warehouse and it saddened me because we used to be so close once. But I was not about to kiss his ass brother-in-law or fucking not. He wasn't the only one who lost Matías that day.

Before I fully approached them he was already taking off in the direction of his office, causing me to roll my eyes in annoyance. I shook my head and made my way over to Rora who looked as annoyed as I felt. When she finally realized I was carrying a child she and Camila both made their way toward me beating me to the punch of explaining the situation.

"I know you told me to search her I didn't know it was because you were going to kidnap her," her eyes were so wide I was sure they'd pop out of her head.

Without verbally responding, I held Sof's head leaning her forward just enough so they could see the bruise on her face. Camila gasped being a mother herself I know she felt a similar pain as I did when I saw it. I wasn't a mother but I couldn't imagine someone inflicting harm on my child.

I placed Sofía's head back on my chest and slightly swayed making sure she was comfortable enough. I wanted to hurry up and lay her down so she could sleep comfortably, but for an eight-year old she wasn't that heavy, or either my workouts in the gym were heavily paying off.

"Dios mío, ¿qué pasó?" Camila asked sadness lacing her voice, and her eyes looked glassy as if she could cry at any moment.

"She said her father hit her and before you ask, absolutely no reason is why. I know Sof, she's not that kind of kid. She likes Polly Pockets, coloring, and above all else writing. And again before you ask I don't know what possessed me to bring her home, I just knew I wasn't letting her go home." I let out a huff, I had been holding that in all day.

Truth be told I truly didn't know what the plan was after this weekend. If we found her mother and I felt like I could trust her to take care of Sofía, I'd see to it they'd never have to worry about anything else for as long as I lived. But if we couldn't find her mother or if she was incapable then, I don't know I hadn't thought that far ahead.

"Hey, you're processing and I have a feeling I know what you're thinking. Regardless of the outcome, we're here to help you, including Mateo even if he is still being a dick right now." Aurora said trying to cheer me up and it worked slightly.
