The car came to a halt, I must of dozed of as the stop made me jolt forward and scare me almost to death. Looking forward I seen Jed quickly jump out of the car and make his way round to my door. He opened up my door and said "we are here, you make your way inside and I will follow with your suitcase".
I turned to look at the cave in front of him, as I approached it I realised that this wasn't any kind of cave it was like the cave you see in batman. People were frantically running around inside chatting away as they got from one part of the cave to the other. Yet the minute I walked further into the cave it fell silent all eyes were on me. I felt a blush creep on me cheeks, then out of now where Peace ran forward and embraced me into a hug.
"Wow what are you doing here?" I asked him rather surprised he was here. "The same reason you are and we have all been waiting for you to come. Come on I'll show you to our leader" he explained; but why were they all waiting for me? This made no sense and why was Peace here, as I looked round whilst following Peace I noticed everyone had the same thing in common, we had no heart shaped pendent. Not one of us, and that's when it dawned on me that I never even noticed Peace didn't have one.
The corridor was long and dark, a few lanterns lit it up so you could see your way down, at the bottom was a door that read 'Ofelia Elliot' who was she? "Ofelia" Peace called out, "She's arrived", and out from a walk in closet a brunette emerged. She must of been in her mid 20s, she was dressed so professionally with piercing green eyes and such rosy cheeks. Her skin had an olive glow to it, I was jealous. Her room was light as well, it helped me see her better.
"Thank you Peace, you can continue your training now" she spoke clearly, "as you wish Mrs Elliot" he said before closing the door and leaving us alone.
"How was your journey Miss Whitely" she aske.
"Rather long" I giggled slightly, which resulted in a slight chuckle from her. "We have been expecting you for a long time, we was just waiting for you to be ready" she explained. "Ready for what?" I asked rather muddled, "who are you?", she gestured me to sit in the seat opposite her desk, to which I did gratefully. "My name is Ofelia Elliot" she spoke as she began to sit in the seat opposite me, on the other side of the desk, "I help train individuals who are rarer than others, like you for example" she began explaining. Me why was I so rare I wasn't understanding this, I listened more carefully, "I help powerful individual learn to control their power". "But how do you know what power they have?" I asked rather intrigued, "we do a simple test, we hook you up to a machine and it tells us what powers you have, so we know what equipment you will need in order to train. Learning to control this power is essential in order to fore-fill a normal life" she explained. "But how many powers do people usually have and why do we need to train? I don't understand" I explained.
I remember reading about the people who didn't have the pendent in English a long time ago, they were considered a threat to man kind because they develop powers instead of a pendent, it's usually a 1 out of 15 chance that your child will be like this and looks like I'm apart of the 1. People without pendents were considered uncommon, we weren't seen as equals to those with pendents, they considered themselves the more important people because they can find they soul mate where as we tend to date our own kind. They referred to us as 'grotesque's'.
"People usually get around 4 powers and you train to fight the people who threaten you" she said with such passion, "we are sick of being walked over, we want a revolutionary for people like us. We want to show the people we can protect them more than they can protect themselves", I sat trying to soak up all the information she was giving me. "Come I'll show you to your new room" she informed.
I stood up like she did and followed her out of her office and back down the dark corridor, we came to a part that had 3 long corridors at the end of it, she turned to me. "The middle is where we meet up for meal times, the one to your left is our training rooms and the one to your right leads to the dorms" she clarified. I just nodded not sure on how to answer.
We proceeded towards our right leading to the dorms and there was hundreds of rooms, stairs ways leading up and down. It was a breathtaking sight, she began walking up the stairs I followed her trying not to get so close.
"You'll be staying in room 852" she informed me, once we got up the first flight of stairs we continued up to another flight, this reminded me of home when I had to walk up 2 flights of stairs to get to my room.
The stairs were wide and wooden, similar to the ones at my house, at the top of the stairs was a corridor with thousands of doors. She continued to walk forward and after what felt like 50 doors we reached my room.
My suitcase was already in here waiting Jed must have placed it here whilst I was talking to Ofelia; "No cellphones or electronic devices are allowed within the cave unless we delete the GPs system from your phone or device" she told me.
I took my phone out of my pocket and handed it over to her, "try not to delete any of my photos please" I pleaded to her.
"We just need to get rid of the GPs other than that you can keep the phone" she explained.
"Your test will be at half 8 so try not to be late, it will be in the training room, I will answer any of your questions there but for now unpack and settle in. Try to make it feel like your own" she said before exiting the room.
What had I gotten myself into.
