Grotesque Trilogy (Book 1)

Chapter 6

I looked around the room, it was a huge room with 2 walls white and 2 walls sage. There was a huge white double bed in the middle of the room with a thick green and white duvet on it, the pillows were feathered.

This room was larger than the one I had a home, there was no windows due to it being a cave but there was a painted one on the wall, and a desk was next to it with a black office chair placed with it.

To my right was a huge pine walk in closet, the doors were like shutters it was truly beautiful; my fingers ran down the doorway as I grabbed the round shaped handle. The thoughts of what happened to my locker in school ran through my mind I took a deep breath and firmly grasped the handle opening it carefully; luckily the handle didn't break. I sighed a breath of relief, a clock on the desk near my window shown me the time was half 7.

Giving me an hour to unpack, putting my blue river island suitcase on my bed and began to unpack.

Once I put all my clothes in my closet I realized I didn't really have that many, I put my shoes in the bottom, and I started putting my essentials away.

I decided to put my photo frame of me, Leo and Peace on my desk, and re hang my 'fairy lights' up over the top of my bed on the wall.

I also found some silver tinsel under my bed and decided to hang it from the top and bottom of my wooden bed frames.

The light in my room came with a fan which was really strange to me, I didn't see why I'd need it.

Once I finished up I realized it was 20 past 8 so I began to make my way towards the training room, walking out of my room I realized you can lock the door.

I remembered there was a key on my desk so I quickly ran back inside to grab it and then locked the door.

I made my way down the long corridor, down the 2 flights of stairs and back to the corridor on the left was where Ofelia told me the training room was so I slowly pushed the door, it gave a loud creek as it opened.

As I walked inside there was around 30 people in the room all training, in the middle of the room there was a boxing ring.

To my left were some punching bags and to my right was another room, I noticed Ofelia in the other room and began to walk towards her. She plastered a smile on her face when she seen me approaching her, "Are you ready?" She asked, hesitantly I nodded, there was an x in the middle of the room, and in front of that was a huge wall with symbols on it. There was millions of them, I gave Ofelia a questioning look when I noticed this, "They symbolize powers. Which ever ones light up a golden colour are the ones that you possess" she explained, I gave her a brief nod.

"Stand on the x whenever you're ready" she spoke one last time before standing behind a glass wall that was behind me.

Slowly I edged myself onto the x, as I stood there wires came down from the ceiling I watched them as they moved like snakes in front of me and then they suddenly clipped themselves on to me.

There was around 10 wires, after a few minutes a loud fan like noise was heard I looked at the board in front of me. I tried to remember how many should light up. 4 that was it, as long as four lit up I should be okay, a picture of a man running turned gold, and I heard Ofelia shout "Superhuman speed" while someone else took note of it. She gave me a reassuring smile as we waited for the next picture to light up.

Next a picture of a fist lit up and Ofelia shouted "Superhuman strength" and someone wrote that down as well.

I waited for the next picture to light up, surely I couldn't have any more powers I mean, I figured out I had the two that are lit up but surely I can't have any more. To my surprise another turned golden it was a person with a long arm and I heard "elasticity", wow me stretchy, I couldn't be could I?

Bewildered I continued to stare forward hoping I had one final power; a picture of two people and a clock in between them lit up and I heard Ofelia shout "time travel", now I know she must be joking, how can I time travel?

Ofelia stayed put and the machine continued on, did I have more powers? I couldn't have Ofelia said people usually have around 4.

A picture of an icicle lit up and I heard Ofelia shout "cold and ice manipulation", she's got to be joking now I can't generate ice. The machine continued on, was this ever going to end?

Next a picture of a person with a clock turned golden, "immortality" I heard Ofelia shout, I took a sharp breath, did I want to live forever? I didn't even know myself but I apparently have the ability to.

Finally the last one to light up was a picture of a head with a brain, and I heard Ofelia shout "mind control", what I can control people's minds now!

The machine finally turned off and I looked at Ofelia stunned.

"I thought you said people only get 4" I exclaimed.

"Well Meg Whitely it seems you have 7, you are truly, amazing only one other person in the whole group has 7" she explained rather shocked herself.

"Do you mind if I ask who?" I asked slightly intrigued, "me" she spoke firmly.

I was taken back, I didn't think Ofelia had any powers, "although you have some powers I don't" she said clearly. "Like what?" I questioned, she gave me a slight smile and said "immortality", I looked at her shocked. "Only one other person has that power it's the rarest of its kind", she explained I stood there in awe.

She then spoke again one last time "we will get the equipment you will require for you. For now try to see if you can expand your power and learn to control it, your friend Peace is in the other half of the training room. I'm sure you have a lot to catch up on" after then she exited the room.

I followed quickly and saw Peace on the other side of the training room I ran to him and engulfed him into a massive huge, "well hello to you to" he said giggling to himself.

I looked at him, "how many powers do you have?" I asked him rather quickly, "well little miss nosey sounds like you just had the test to see how many you had, I have 3 if you must know what about you?"he asked rather interested. "7" I breathed out, Peace just looked at me in shock. "What 3 do you have?" I asked him; he looked at me before saying " immortality, technopathy and night vision, is my interrogation over now?" He asked whilst chuckling.

" I suppose so but at least we both have immortality so I know I'm not gonna be on my own for a while" I giggled, he smiled slightly at me.

"Come on you lets go get some food" he said before throwing his arm over my shoulder and walking out of the room, towards the food room.
