Chapter 12

Reaching my locker Leo and Peace were still talking about God knows what, but I had a weird feeling, like people were looking at me, as it turned around horror filled my eyes, everyone was looking at Me, Olivia and Peace as if we were freaks.
"What you all looking at? Do we have something on our face?" Olivia asked aggressively.
"You're not like us, you don't contain the pendant, you're not human, none of you" someone shouted at us, tears pricked at my eyes why were they saying this, who told them? "Yeah Leo come away from them, they will only hurt you" another said, this hit me hard, I'd never dream of hurting anyone so why do they think this? "Meg this is bad me, you and Olivia need to leave now!" Peace said, "why should I leave? I'm not a threat to anyone" Olivia said, before I could process what was happening Peace was dragging me and Olivia out of the school and towards my car. "Get in and drive back to the cave don't speak to anyone but Ofelia when you get there okay?" Peace said, I just nodded my head as a response before climbing in the car, Olivia jumped in. Peace ran off to get in his car and we all made our way back to the cave.
The journey was quiet, I felt so unorthodox compared to everyone else, tears were falling down my face but I hadn't realised I was crying until Olivia pulled a tissue out of her bag. "Here" she said offering me her tissue, I took it great fully and smiled at her.
"You know I never told you about me" Olivia said, I glanced at her briefly but keeping my eyes on the road in front before she continued to speak. "My mother was lab assistant from what I can remember, she died when I was 6 years old, my father had a break down after she died, he become an alcoholic and soon after died from alcohol poisoning, I was orphaned at 7, until I reached 17, Jed appeared at my orphanage an brought me to the cave, everyone treated me like family and I never had that, people loved me in ways I never even loved myself, I felt accepted, the woman at the orphanage abused me, they'd hit me and throw things at me because I didn't have the pendant, they said I was a monster" at this point I noticed her voice had cracked. "You don't need to continue I understand, I'm so sorry" I said, I never knew what Olivia had been through till now. "I know I just never had anyone to tell my story to, it feels nice, I don't hate Peace either you know" she said with a sigh at the end of it. "You're lying now, you practically dismissed his attempt to speak to you before" I said rather confused, "I'm in love with him Meg, but he chose his girlfriend over me, when he could of had me" she explained, "I'm sorry you've lost me" I said. "Me and Peace had been speaking to each other for about 5 months until Becca arrived on the scene, she had him almost instantly and I got jealous" she explained. I kind of now understood why Olivia was so harsh with Peace, I mean why would he speak to her all this time and then just pick someone else over her? "Peace was the only light I'd ever known and I craved it, he made me happy and forget about the world, he was my rock and for him to choose her over me I felt betrayed, so I hide my feelings by being nasty and ignoring him when needed because I'm scared of him hurting me again" she said glancing at me then quickly looking down to play with her fingers. "Don't tell anyone I told you all this either, I don't care if you have superhuman strength I will still punch you" she said deadly serious, I laughed awkwardly "I won't but how did you know I had superhuman strength?" I questioned, "I can basically read your mind so you can't hide anything from me" she said chuckling. I had forgotten about that and blushed continuing to concentrate on the road in front, "don't worry your little crush on Leo is safe with me too" she said teasing me a little. I gave her a shocked look, to which she startled none controllably laughing. I just focused on getting back to the cave as quick as possible, who knows what else Olivia might find in my thoughts if I carry on in this car journey with her.
Arriving back at the cave Peace rushed towards me and Olivia and dragged us towards Ofelia's office, I was more terrified of how Ofelia was going to react more than anything.
Peace forcefully pushed the door to Ofelia's office open and slammed it shut behind him. "Ofelia people know about us" Peace said rather angrily. "Peace you need to calm down" Ofelia spoke, "we will sort this, you don't need to be afraid, in all good time we will show them that we aren't the threat". Peace only got more angry now "you've been saying 'in all good time' for 2 years now, are we ever going to be ready?" He asked. "At the minute Peace no, but when you, Meg and Olivia are strong enough then yes, we are waiting for you 3 to be ready, you're still new to this and we can't force you into something you aren't prepared for" she explained.
"How do you know when we are ready?"Olivia asked, "I'll know when you all work together, you three together are indestructible, learn from each other, teach each other, no one will be able to stop you" she said.
The room fell silent, "but for now train in the gym and get to know everyone more, I'll deal with the school situation" Ofelia said one last time before she opened the door for us to exit the room.
