Chapter 40

Sam said there was somewhere that he needed to go do and he would be back soon but Nova stopped him.

"We need to talk."

"Can it wait till later?"

"No, no it can't wait till later." She said sternly, "I'm tired of this and I want answers. Where do you go? You're constantly leaving and I want to know why. I deserve to know Sam."

"I know and I'm sorry."

"Are you, is there someone else? Are you seeing another female?"

"Not exactly, not romantically anyways. Look, we can't talk about it here. Come with me this time and you'll find out. You've been sick and that's why the other times I didn't have you come along. Plus I would never cheat on you so I don't even know why you would think that. You're the one I love Nova." He rolls his eyes.

"I'm, I'm sorry. It's just you were being all secretive and constantly leaving like you were and I'm sorry I shouldn't have doubted you. I shouldn't have let that thought cross my mind. Please forgive me." She blinked back tears.

"Of course." He wraps her in a hug and rubs her back. "Please don't cry."

"I'm trying not to. I feel better now though. And I'm stupid for letting that thought cross my mind."

"You're not stupid, don't ever think that."

After she changed they headed out, he filled her on everything he had been doing and apologized that he kept her out of the loop. They met up with Charlie and then went to where he was keeping Rowena.

"Not gonna lie, I know I've heard that you can be evil, it's kinda cool being in the same room with a witch." Nova smirked, "I've always had this fascination with the whole witch thing. The thing you guys can do, wow."

"Seriously? Nova, please now's not the time for all that."

"Okay fine sorry." She sighs as Cass walks in.

After they made their introductions Cass wanted to know the rules since he was being a referee as he called it.

"Quite literal isn't he? Does he know that the first rule is don't tell your brother what we're doing?"

"Wait, Dean doesn't know? Sam, this never ends well."

Charlie tapped Cass on the arm, "That's exactly what I said."

"It's really no different than when he kept a secret from Sam." Nova shrugs and then looked at Sam while pointing at him, "And look how that turned out, not good and you know it."

"Everyone take a breath. Look, we're up against it okay? And we've all been up against it before and we know there are times when every choice sucks. Now us... lying to Dean is the choice that sucks the least. We have to work to make this work, please. "

Nova took a deep breath, "I get where he's coming from. He's wanting to do this to save Dean's life just like Dean made a choice to save Sam's life and kept it from him."

"Exactly." Sam nodded.

Finally Charlie and Cass agreed to do this for Dean. Once they finally got Rowena to agree Sam and Nova left. She almost thought about staying there but decided against it.

After the guys checked out a case they went back to the bunker.

"Ugh, there's no food and I'm hungry." Nova groaned.

"Sounds like need a food run time, what sounds good?"

"Anything edible." Nova giggled.

"Well no shit. But it's good you're finally wanting to eat." Sam chuckled.

"Yeah, I've been feeling better, finally over my sickness some. I guess it was just the flu or something." She shrugs.

"Could have been." He nodded then went into where Dean was.

Sam talked Dean into going to get pizza but he came back with some guy rather than pizza.

It's finally came out that Sam knew where the book was the whole time and that he didn't actually destroy the book because it couldn't be destroyed. Dean wasn't happy that he got Charlie and Cass involved.

When Charlie called Sam and told him where she was, they headed there.

"You lied to me Sam."

"Dean, it's no different than you lying to him when he was dying."

"Yeah but I didn't get innocent people involved that didn't need to be Nova. This isn't the same thing." He barked out.

"It's different because it had to do with you right? You know Sam's not much different than you, the whole wanting to save his brother thing."

Be time they got there, unfortunately Charlie was killed by the Stynes. As they were giving her a hunters funeral Sam tried giving his condolences but Dean told him to shut up.

After Dean walked away, Nova caught up with him, grabbed his arm, making him turn around and slapped him.

"What the fuck was that for?!"

"You did not need to talk to your brother that way! No matter how pissed and upset you are he does not deserve that from you of all people! The last thing he wanted was for something to happen to her, she was like his little sister and he loved her as much as you do!" As she was yelling she couldn't help but let the tears fall.

"Than he wouldn't have gotten any of you involved in this Nova!

"He didn't forced them Dean! They were willing to because just like Sam we love and care for you and don't want to see anything bad happen to you."

"Yeah well nothing will happen to me, I'm fine Nova."

"No, no you're not, it's changing you and not for the better."

"News flash, we all change, in the life we live no one stays the same. Now I'm done with this conversation." With that he left.

She groaned and stormed back over to Sam.

"I swear he can be so stubborn." Nova gritted.

"Yeah, but he's just mad because what happened to Charlie and he's right. I got her killed."

"No, if she would have stayed where she was, she would have been safe. But she wasn't thinking clearly because she just wanted to Crack that damn book. We all wanted that to happen but if she would have stayed put she would still be okay." She cried.

Sam instantly wrapped his arms around her and rubbed her back.
