Chapter 43

"I want eggs– no," Natigil ako sa pagkuha ng itlog at palihim na kinuyom ang kamao bago huminga ng malalim. "Soup, please."

Brix grinned at me teasingly. Kung pwede ko lang mabawi ang mga luhang sinayang ko ay ginawa ko na.

Ng makabawi ako sa nangyari kanina ay halos nilipad ko ang pinakamalapit na hospital para lang sundan si Brix at tignan ang kalagayan niya.

The moment I got there, he was already wearing a shoulder immobilizer which held his arm firmly in opposition to his body to keep him from making any movements. It then extended to wrap around his chest for extra support.

The doctor said that Brix had a dislocated shoulder. I sighed in relief to find that it wasn't a severe case so he wouldn't be needing surgery. 

Instead, he was only prescribed some medication for pain and healing. He also needs to undergo X-ray once again then proceed to take a series of therapy, depending on his status.

Noong una ay ayaw ko naman talaga siyang asikasuhin ngunit dala na rin ng awa at konsensya ay ginawa ko na lang.

Alam ko na malaki ang atraso niya sakin ngunit siya din naman ang dahilan kung bakit wala ako sa sitwasyon niya ngayon. Takot ko lang na baka mas malala pa ang natamo ko kesa sa kanya.

Inirapan ko siya bago isinubo sa kanya ang kutsarang naglalaman ng tinolang sabaw na siyang niluto ko din.

"Hindi ka naman inutil para subuan pa kita. Ang dami mong arte." 

"Well, I can't move my right hand yet," Brix looked at me with his puppy eyes. "You also heard from the doctor that I shouldn't be moving a lot to heal faster, Eli." 

He pointed out as he continued to accept the spoonfuls of food I was giving him. I stopped myself from smiling when I saw how cute he looked while he was eating and minding his business. 

Suddenly, I realized what I was doing. What the hell?! Did I just say that he's cute?

I shook my head in disbelief before diverting my eyes somewhere else. 

Ang pangit niya kaya!

"Eh, ano iyang kaliwang kamay mo, display?"

"But you agreed to help me." Brix insisted.

"Yes," Nanlaki ang mga mata kong bumaling sa kanya at lalong diniinan ang aking pahayag. "But it doesn't mean that I need to be your acting maid 24/7."

Brix slyly smiled and said, "Then, maybe we can be like a husband and wife to make it up to you."

Aba't! Ang kapal talaga ng mukha!

Kung hindi lang kumatok si Andrea sa nakabukas na pinto ng kwarto nito ay malamang nabatukan ko na siya.

"Kuya Brix, nandito na po iyong mga documents na kailangan mo."

Brix nodded and let Andrea in. Tumaas ang kilay ko sa ginawa niya. Akala ko ba magpapahinga siya?

"Teka nga, ano yan? Magtatrabaho ka?" I sarcastically asked as he started opening and scanning the pile of folders which Andrea put on his bedside table.

"I know you're concerned, wife, but I still have to work for our future." Dire-diretso niyang saad habang ang tingin at atensyon ay nasa folder pa rin na hawak. 

"That's not what I meant, you brute!" Nanggagalaiti kong sabi. "You can open and hold those folders yet you can't feed yourself?!"

"I use my right hand to eat, Eli." Palusot niya pa at ipinagpatuloy ang pagbabasa. "And besides, that's a wife's duty to feed her husband when he's ill, right?"
