Chapter 30

Kenny yawned as he stretched his eyes. Last night was a very long for him and Toni. They talked and explored every inch of each other.

Toni explained enough to Kenny and he seemed to accept her confessing to having a family. However, there was still something lingering over both of them.

Toni giggled as Kenny gently pushed her on his desk. They stared into each other eyes as he ran his hand over her right thigh.

"My little sister, Norah will be here at any minute Kenny. We need to stop before something gets started."

"Shit it's already started but okay."

They pulled apart just as there was a knock on the door.

"Come in!"

Toni watched as Troy's dusty ass strolled through the door looking around amused. She could tell he was loving the atmosphere and ready to say something stupid.

"This is a nice, little setup you have here."

"Little? Who are you suppose to be?"

Troy looked at Kenny and chuckled which caused Kenny to stare at Troy with a mug. Troy realized Kenny's posture and changed his position.

"I'm baby dolls stepfather, Troy. She didn't tell you that we met yesterday and are working on getting the family back together."

"Yes, she did. However, you don't walk into someone's empire and insult it before introducing yourself. Your old enough to know better."

Toni listened as she realized that this was already going bad. She didn't expect for Troy to bring his weird ass to the building. She definitely didn't expect for Kenny to lie about her telling him about Troy.

"Where's Norah?"

Toni tried to change the topic.

"I came to tell you that Norah won't be in for awhile. She's not feeling too good. She should be healthy in about a week."

"You came all the way down here to tell us that? Y'all don't own a phone?"

"No for religious reasons."

Kenny angrily huffed as he looked at Troy in disgust. Toni was loving the fact that Kenny didn't care for him either.

"Well you can leave now. Sending my prayers to Norah."

Troy couldn't say anything he just left.

"He's an asshole. He better not ever step foot in any of my buildings either."

"Who else did you ban?"

"Ju's mother. That hoe can't even drive by the motherfucker."

Toni looked at Kenny concerned. Even though they were both hiding secrets the way they were coming out was too much.

"I think I'm going to go by the house and check on Norah."

Kenny looked at Toni like she was crazy. He knew Toni was brave and crazier than he knew but this was too much.

"No you are not. Why would you go over there and put yourself in the position to deal with that bullshit?"

"Norah."

"Toni I'm not letting you go alone and I don't have time to go with you."

Toni pouted as she realized he was right. They were swamped with work and she didn't have time. Kenny  strolled through the internet as he took a small break.

"WHAT THE FUCK!"

Toni rushed from her office that was conjoined to his. She looked around just seeing him and his cellphone now on the floor.

"Kenny what's wrong?"

Kenny said nothing so Toni picked up his phone reading her worse nightmare.

Cynthia George, mother of Juliet Edmonds wants case reopened.

"Cynthia George, mother of Juliet Edmonds wants the case of Derek Charles reopened. George believes that Charles was not abusing her daughter and thinks Edmonds was covering up a murder in fear for her life.  George advised that the justice system failed her daughter by locking her up which led to her losing hope and killing herself."

"Kenny just because she wants it doesn't mean they'll open the case back up. Plus there are so many other possibilities don't stress yourself out."

"She knows something. I know she does. What if Ju told her before she killed herself?"

"What if she didn't and doing what she think is best for her daughter?"

Kenny paced back and forth mumbling to himself trying to make sense of everything. 

"Toni I want to believe you're right but I just can't. Cynthia has always been up to something and I can't believe she's worried about justice for Ju."

"Kenny calm down and stop overthinking."

"Well excuse me Toni for being worried. But I forgot you've killed multiple people so that's why you're so calm."

Toni reached her hand back and slapped Kenny so hard his head turned. Before he could say anything she stormed off and left the building.

Toni went home and removed all of his stuff out of their bed and bathroom. She was pissed and needed space. Kenny came home right as Toni was finished tossing the last of Kenny's clothes in the guest room.

He didn't say anything. Kenny accepted the new living arrangement. He was too tired to talk and definitely argue. He wanted and needed his wife but his pride wouldn't let him.

Both of them went their separate ways in the house focusing on their own secrets.
