Chapter 26

KENNY'S P.O.V

"Come on Ju say something. You can't be mad about this. This was a possibility even if Toni would've testified."

"I'm mad at you and dad not that bitch. I understand you were in the hospital but dad didn't even come. I've been calling him and he doesn't even answer." Ju said crying.

I felt bad as she started to cry. It was my fault why he hadn't been communicating with her. I had him chained up and couldn't risk him talking to anyone.

"I'm sure he's just busy. I haven't heard from him either. You know how he is when he gets lost in his work. Don't cry it's not worth it."

"Shut up Kenny. You don't know what it's like in the place. I pee in front of people. I shower in front of people. The food is horrible and I keep having nightmares about Derek."

I took out my vibrating phone and looked through it. "Aye, you can't have that out in here." A guard said.

"Ju, I got to go. Call me at anytime. I'll be working on your appeal. I love you."

I followed the map on my phone and parked. I sat in my car as I waited for almost 2 hours.

"Stupid technology. This shit is broken." I threw my phone down and looked right at Toni and the nurse from earlier.

I couldn't read their lips but they seemed to be very comfortable. Toni looked around before leaning closely into the nurse. What I saw next made me wish I hadn't put a tracker on the car.

I hurried home and made it look like I had been there all day. I took my shirt off and threw it on the floor and tossed me shoes wherever. I took the elevator downstairs and grabbed a beer and some chips out of the kitchen. I could hear Toni coming in the house and heading up the stairs.

"KENNY WHAT THE HELL! Why do you always just drop your clothes wherever? I'm getting so tired of cleaning up behind you." Toni fussed.

"Well you're my woman so chop, chop. Get to work girl." I smacked her ass very hard. Toni hit my arm as she walked away. I smirked as she started cleaning up.

"So what did you do today?"

"You know ran some errands and then came home to be bossed by you. Why?" Toni asked suspiciously.

Seeing what I saw earlier made me second guess my next move. I took a deep breath as I headed towards my closet. Toni was placing my shoes were they were suppose to go.

I quickly got behind her on one knee, "Toni I need to ask you something." She turned around eyes filling with excitement as she took in the scene.

"I'm not really good at this but I'm going to speak from my heart. You're weird, mean, disrespectful, and a pain in the ass. But out of every woman that I met you're the most loving, honest sweetheart. I can't see myself living without you. My grandmother told me to give this to someone that I valued more than life. I want you to have it forever. So to sum all of this up, will you marry me?"

"YES!YES!YES!" Toni yelled happily. We kissed passionately as we embraced each other. Toni admired the ring as she smiled.

"This is so surreal. I can't believe I'm about to be a wife. I wish my family could be here to see this."

With all of this going on I didn't realize that Toni never mentioned any family members. I felt bad but at the same time Toni and I were almost in the same position. I barely had a family too.

"Let's elope. We can have a reception with our friends and stuff when we get back. What do you say?"

TONI'S P.O.V

I pushed Kenny back on the bed and crawled on top of him. Kenny grabbed my hand and kissed my engagement ring.

"You're the best thing that happened to me." Kenny mumbled as he lifted my shirt over my head.

Guilt fell over me as I thought about everything. I couldn't go into a marriage with so many deep lies. Eventually everything I had done, been and seen would appear. Hell some of it already did.

"Kenny, baby lets talk first. I have somethings I need to tell you."

"Later Toni."

"No now Kenny. This is very important." Kenny removed his grip from my thighs and sat up. He held my hand as a concerned look formed on his face, "What's wrong?"

"There are things that you need to know. Like that lady at the hospital, the one that called me Kristi. Well she's my cousin and Kristianna is my first name. I changed it when I had to move away a long time."

Kenny sighed as he looked at me, "Is that all?" I nodded. "So you aren't going to tell me you killed her?"

"How do you know about that?"

"I followed you Toni! So your a killer now?"

I paced the room mumbling to herself. Kenny tightly grabbed my wrist snapping me out of my thoughts. I slapped him and ran into the bathroom.

"You don't know what I've been through Kenny. There's a reason why I live this lie. I've seen things that could cost so much pain."

"Well tell me. Tell me who you really are Kristi." Kenny said.
