Chapter 8

As soon as I stepped off the elevator the aroma of flowers hit my nose. Bouquets and vases of roses lined the hallway. I followed the tiny path that led me to Kenny's office. I took a deep breath and cheerfully walked in.

"Good morning!"

"Good morning.!" Both Juliet and Kenny said at the same time. However, the groggy welcoming surprisingly came from Juliet. Kenny was happy and smiling.

"Aaachooo!" Juliet sneezed. Water ran out of her red eyes down her face. Kenny handed her a Kleenex to wipe her face, "Ju you really need to go home. Your allergies can't take being around all of these flowers."

"I know. I'm going to leave I was just waiting on Toni." I turned to Juliet shocked, "Waiting on me for what?"

"I wanted to congratulate you on bagging one of the most eligible rich bachelors."

I looked over at Kenny and he seemed to not care at all. He actually seemed to find this amusing.

"Charles sent you all of these flowers." Kenny said.

"All of these for me? All we did was eat and talk? So I bagged the most eligible rich bachelors because we went on a simple date?"

"Noooo. Toni, Toni, Toni. I'm going to have to teach you somethings about this level of public living. You two are on the front of every magazine, tabloid website etc."

"We are?" Juliet placed her phone in my face and sure enough there we were. It was crazy to see us eating, talking and laughing.

"Achooooooooooo!" Juliet sneezed again. "Alright that was officially my cue to go. See y'all later."

Juliet left leaving Kenny and I with a floor full of flowers. We had a childish staring war and by the looks of it he was going to win.

"Take a picture it'll last longer."

"Don't you think you've taken enough pictures?" I quickly looked at him ready to go off. "But I seriously have something important to tell you. I want to apologize to you for putting you in that position. I don't know what got into me. I guess my competitiveness took over."

"You got to be fucking kidding me! You tried to sell me like I was some clothes in a store. There is no level of an apology that would make me forgive you."

"Toni don't be like that please don't. I'm sorry."

The doors swung open and in walked a woman in high heels. She was about 5'7 and seemed to be a model. Well by her struct and figure she had that runway vibe.

"Baby are you ready to go? Father is down in the car waiting for us." She kissed Kenny on the lips. He didn't pull away as she wrapped her arms around his neck.

They pulled away and when she did her eyes landed on me. A smile appeared on her face.

"Oh where are my manners. I'm Eva and you are?" She asked me.

"That's Toni. Remember I will telling you about the new addition to the company." Kenny replied.

"That's right. Well nice to meet you Toni. Baby we've got to go. You know father doesn't like to wait." Eva said fixing his tie.

"Okay. Let me just get some stuff together here. Give me 10 minutes and I'll be down." Kenny told her.

Kenny and I stood in silence until we heard the elevator door close.

"You're just full of surprises aren't you?"

"Toni I want to explain but I can't right now. This is very complicated. Just know that I'm not trying to hurt you."

"Have a nice day Kenny."

I walked away, I had enough of him. Who was this woman and why did he never mention her?

"Knock! Knock! Toni are you in here?" I went to the hallway and saw Derek.

"Derek what are you doing here? What if someone sees you?" He chuckled and pulled his shades down.

"I'm in disguise. I have jeans, shades, hat and a jacket. No one will suspect anything." Derek said proudly. I laughed at him, "You're so cute."

"So you think I'm cute? Well I think you're beautiful. Did you like all the flowers? I hope it was overboard." Derek said following me into my office.

"The amount of flowers were shocking but the gesture was very nice. I loved it."

Derek smiled brightly at me as he looked at the view of the city.

"Are you free tonight? We can hang out at my house if you want more privacy. Or we can fly to Paris and have dinner on the top of the Eiffel Tower?"

"Uhh we can do Paris another time. Dinner tonight at your place would be great! What time should I come over?"

"How about now?" Derek asked.

I thought about it for a moment. All my work was done and I needed to get out of this office. Derek and I had been spending a lot of time together over the last month.

"Okay. Let's go!"

Derek put back on his terrible disguise and we left together. If Kenny needed me he could text me. I slipped into Derek's Lamborghini and we rode off to his house.

"Make yourself at home. I'm going to go get some board games and stuff for us." Derek informed me.

I popped some popcorn and got some other snacks. I went into the living room to see Derek setting up a monopoly board.

"I haven't played this since I was a kid. Just to let you know I'm going to kick your ass." Derek laughed at me, "That's what you think."

Derek scrunched his face up as he counted his monopoly money. He landed on Park Place and of course I owned it. I had two houses and hotels and he was about to go broke.

"This is so stupid." Derek slid over all his money except $3. "Let me get a dollar Toni?" I passed him a $50 bill.

"Show off." Derek mumbled. "Thanks!"

"Mr. Charles is their anything specific you want to be prepared tonight?" The chef asked.

"Surf and turf. Is that okay with you Toni?" Derek asked. Both him and his chef waited on my answer.

"I actually was craving lasagna and a ceasar salad."

"Well the queen has spoken." Derek said. His chef smiled and nodded his head.

Within a hour the food was done and we were eating. We ended our night cuddled up in the bed watching tv.
