Chapter 28

5 Years Later

KENNY'S P.O.V

Sitting in the lobby of one of the most lucrative buildings in the city I smiled brightly. I tilted my head back and closed my eyes. I needed a quick nap it had been a longs day.

I slightly jumped as someone sat in my lap. I opened my eyes to see my wife. "Hey baby. I didn't hear you. How was your day?"

"It was good but it's even better now." Toni placed a kiss on my forehead as I wrapped my arms around her. She tried to get up but I tightened my grip.

"Stop Kenny, you know how I feel about public displays of affection in the workplace."

"I know but I don't work here Toni." She chuckled as she shook her head,"Yeah but last time I checked the company was named after us."

"That B & E could stand for anything. Now shush you're my pillow right now and pillows don't talk."

I don't know how long I had been sleep but when I woke up Toni was gone. I headed towards her office to see her typing away on her laptop. I sat down across from her and looked out at the city.

"Can you believe 6 years ago we were in this same situation? You working and ignoring me while I sat there looking out the window." Toni asked laughing.

I faked a laugh before sternly looking at her. "How long before you're done? I want to go visit my sister."

"Now you already know I'm not going. I'll see you at home."

"Any word from dad?" Juliet asked.

I looked around before finally making eye contact with her. "No not a word." I lied.

He had died a few years back and I couldn't find it in my heart to tell Ju. We had kept him chained up so long that he was in a terrible state. His mind was gone and he had lost so much weight. All of that would land me in prison and I couldn't go.

"He'll turn up eventually. You know how he is."

Ju nodded as she wiped away her tears. "So how's the company doing?"

"It's doing great. Toni is doing so good. Our profits are up by almost 30%." Juliet smacked her teeth as she looked away.

"So you really serious about her? After everything? What the fuck is wrong with you?"

"Nothings wrong with me. Look she's my wife of 5 years and this marriage isn't ending. You can either like it or never see or hear from me again."

"BYE." Ju got up and left me sitting there. I guess now I can save my time and gas since I don't have to come see her anymore.

TONI'S P.O.V

Right after Kenny left I hurried out the door and headed home. Tonight was going to be very special. I did a quick double check before pouring a glass of wine.

On cue he walked in the house with a concerned look on his face. "Ju doesn't want to see me anymore."

"Aww baby. It'll be okay but she says this every other month. You know she doesn't mean it."

"I guess but this time was different. She didn't argue with me she just calmly told me bye. Something isn't right about this."

I massaged his shoulders as he sat down at the dining table. "This all look good Toni. Wait...you cooked? How much is it going to cost me?"

"Nothing but unconditional love." Kenny nodded his head as he started eating. I rubbed my belly and cleared my throat. "We're going to need that through this process."

Kenny ignored my actions as he ate. "I know. I'm not going to let this mess with Ju take my eyes off the prize."

"Kenny." He looked at me rubbing my belly.

"You ate without me?" Kenny asked.

"No."

"Your stomach is dry and it's ashy?"

"No. Matter of fact never mind." Kenny quickly jumped up and pulled me into him, "I'm just playing. Daddy loves both of you."

We hugged each other as I cried. I was about to be a mommy. I was nervous and scared since I didn't have a real one. I didn't want to make the same mistakes my mother did.

RINGGGGGGGGGG!

Kenny grabbed his phone and walked away. I started eating my food when I heard a crashing sound. I rushed to Kenny to see his floor splattered across the room.

"Kenny what's wrong?" He didn't say anything he just avoided me. If I cane close he would back away.

"Don't touch me right now." When Kenny got mad he didn't like to be touched for some odd reason. I hadn't been able to crack that code yet.

"Ok. I won't touch you but I would like to know what's going on."

"Ju is dead. They found her in her cell. My sister is dead, my father is dead and it's all my fault."

Kenny cried and cried to the point he almost made himself sick. He was in a bad state for a couple of months after that.

2 Years Later

"WAKE UPPPPPPPP!" I slowly opened my eyes to breakfast in bed. Kenny smiled as I sat up and took everything in.

"Oh Ken you shouldn't have." I said before he kissed me.

"I didn't little miss busy body did. She cooked everything herself." At that moment our daughter walked into the room laughing.

"What's so funny?" Kenny asked her as he lifted her up on the bed. She said nothing as she started eating my food. Kenny joined in as I stared at them in disbelief.

"Y'all cooked this for me, remember?"

They both looked at me with the same expression before continuing to eat. I couldn't even get mad at them. I sat back and admired my family before rubbing my stomach. Everything was exactly how I wanted it to be.

Alright after months maybe even years of starting and stopping this book....this mf is done. I had so many more ideas but just not enough time.
