BTS' MASON ANNOUNCES DEPARTURE FROM THE GROUP By Kim Hyunsu March 31st, 2022
The main dancer of the Kpop super group, BTS, Mason Song has shockingly announced his departure from the group today over an Instagram post.
The reason why he's leaving is due to mental health issues and mistreatment from the group's company, Big Hit Music.
Here is the translation of the caption of Mason's post.
"Hello, it's Mason.
I have some sad news; I will be leaving BTS starting today.
Since 2015, I have been in this group with these seven amazing people who I have basically grown up with over the years. They are my family and will forever be my family until the day I pass.
But, at the same time, I've been dealing with my own mental and physical issues since I was 11 years old. I still deal with pain in my left arm from the crash I was in when I was younger that I've been working on fixing through the help of physically therapy. I was also re-diagnosed with post traumatic stress disorder last year and have been dealing with severe insomnia due to it.
With my insomnia and our insane travel and work schedule, it has been hard on my body to continue performing at my best when I don't feel my best. Before my hiatus last March, my last break was before we filmed Bon Voyage 3 in Malta. I had worked through each of our breaks, either due to schedule conflicts with choreographing for us and other artists to filming for both Sky Castle and Vincenzo. During my second hiatus last year, I realized that this is not the way I should be constantly feeling.
My last point is the manager who took advantage of me in my low state during the filming of Vincenzo, who would fill my head with meaningless quotes and would tell me not to eat, even after working 17 hour shoots for weeks on end. The manager's words mixed with the comments I was receiving at the time were very hurtful and genuinely made me want to give up and quit. They have left the company after the incident was reported, but I still continue to receive messages from them and people who they have given my personal information to.
I love this job so much, to performing on stage in front of our dear ARMYs to all the friends I have made over the years.
