(a/n; ... hello. it's been a while. 2 years, i believe! i just checked and it says that episode two was posted on March 16th, 2020. wow. i am... so sorry. you'd think that being locked inside for most of two years would actually encourage you to write but it... really didn't.

anyway! i'm back now! and i can't exactly promise anything but i like to think that i'll write more of this now. at least, one can hope.

i haven't written in a hot minute so my writing may be a little rusty so if anything looks odd, don't be afraid to let me know!

enjoy!)

"God, I can't believe this is really happening." Emily said as all six former A Troupers sat together in Hidalgo's.

"If Elite wins..." Riley started, "The Next Step is gone, we're gone."

"I... didn't even think about that." James said, completely in shock.

"Me neither." Michelle said. "But it's either this or no chance of getting to Internationals at all."

"It still sucks." Eldon said.

"I know." Michelle said.

"We've just gotta be there for our dancers. I can't imagine how they're feeling." West said, and everyone else responded in agreement.

Later that day, Allison is sitting in Hildago's all alone. The battle should be starting any moment now, but she's way too worried about the fate of The Next Step to even think about going up to the studio. She's honestly surprised that she made it this far into the building.

Allison is considering just leaving and going home when the outside doors to Hildago's open and the most unexpected person walks in.

"Jordan?" Allison breathes out in shock.

Jordan hears her say his name and immediately locks eyes with her as he grins sheepishly and walks up to her.

"Hey Alli," Jordan starts when he gets to the table she's sitting at, and then gestures to the empty chair across from Allison, "can I sit?"

"Uh, yeah, go ahead." Allison says, pinching her leg under the table to make sure she's not dreaming right now as Jordan takes a seat. "Jordan, what are you doing here? Where have you been?"

"I've been at home." Jordan says, shrugging. "I hate how I left, but I just got scared that Lucien's idea could change the fate of this studio forever, you know?"

Allison nods, realising that he doesn't have any idea of what's happened since he left. "Yeah, trust me, I know."

"But wait," Jordan says as he looks around Hidalgo's to see that it's practically empty except for them and the owner of the place standing behind the counter, "why are you here right now? Shouldn't you be at rehearsal?"

"Yeah but," Allison sighs, pausing, "Kate kind of agreed to the merge and so now A Troupe members from Elite and The Next Step have to go head to head to earn a spot on the Internationals team, and if more than seven members of Elite get on the team, Lucien will own the studio and Kate will lose everything. The battle should be starting any minute now."

Jordan listens on in disbelief, shocked that this has happened, but then collects himself.

"That still doesn't explain what you're doing down here, shouldn't you be fighting for your spot?" Jordan asks.

"I know I should, but honestly?" Allison asks, and Jordan nods for her to go on. "I'm scared, Jordan. I have no idea how this is going to turn out and that freaks me out! I'm terrified."

"I can understand that," Jordan says, smiling softly at her before taking hold of one of her hands across the table, "I was scared too, but I'm here now, right? We can take Elite on together."

"Really?" Allison asks, her smile growing as she realises what this means. "You're going to fight for your spot too?"

"Oh definitely!" Jordan says. "I was dumb for leaving before. Wait, Miss Kate left me a spot to fight for, right?"

"Of course," Allison says, chuckling, "you're one of our best dancers."

Jordan laughs before letting go of Allison's hand and getting up from his seat. "Alright then, let's go destroy Elite!"

"Wait!" Allison says, jumping up from her seat. "Before we go up there, I need to tell you something."

"Okay." Jordan says, nodding at her. "Go ahead."

"When you left, I was devastated," Allison admits, "I was actually just about to give you an answer to the question you asked me at Nationals when you walked out."

Jordan's eyes widened before he smiled softly again, he was afraid that him leaving might have made her decide to not give him an answer.

"Okay well, how about this," Jordan starts, "if we both make the team, then you can give me your answer."

Allison nods in agreement. It's a really good idea for them to focus on the battle first and their relationship later if all goes well.

"Yeah, that sounds good." Allison says, smiling at Jordan.

"Okay then, let's go!" Jordan says before heading up to Studio A with Allison walking alongside him.

"If your little co-captain doesn't show up in five minutes Kate, she's out, I hope you know that." Lucien yells to Kate across the room in Studio A.

"She'll be here!" Kate yells back sternly before turning to Izzy behind her. "Any word?"

Izzy shakes her head. "Nothing."

"Okay, just keep checking your phone, okay?" Kate asks, and Izzy nods.

Kate then turns to Elly and the young boy sitting next to her. "Jackson, Elly, are you still sure you're ready for this? This battle is going to be a lot different to B Troupe."

"I'm ready Miss Kate." Elly says.

"Same." Says Jackson, who was only brought up from B Troupe half an hour ago.

"Four minutes Kate!" Lucien yells, which causes Kate to let out a frustrated groan.

"Hey! Sorry I'm late!" Allison says as she walks into Studio A, taking off her shoes and putting her bag into her cubby before going to sit next to Izzy.

"Oh thank goodness!" Kate says in relief, mostly to herself.

"Oh my god, where have you been?" Izzy asks Allison, and then the rest of A Troupe crane their necks towards the doorway that Allison had just come through because they heard footsteps.

"Is it too late to compete?" Jordan asks Miss Kate as he walks up to A Troupe, with all of them and The Gang all letting out a sigh of relief.

"Of course not Jordan, I saved you a spot." Kate says, grinning before turning to face Lucien. "Are you ready for this, Lucien?"
