"So," Michelle started as she and Kate were sitting in Kate's office, "is it just me, or does April remind you of Emily?"

"So," Michelle started as she and Kate were sitting in Kate's office, "is it just me, or does April remind you of Emily?"

Kate smiled fondly and nodded, "Yeah, she's been a part of this troupe for a couple of years now, and she's been a great dance captain."

Michelle pressed her lips together in worry. "But she's never brought the team to a win at Regionals."

"I know," Kate agreed, "but I have faith in her and our team. Anyway, what I wanted to talk to you about ideas for ways for the team to bond. Do you have any?"

Michelle thought about it for a couple of seconds and then shrugged. "Well, last time we did the duets exercise, it really seemed to bring the team together, but also kind of break it apart at the same time."

Kate nodded and came to a decision, "Well then, we should do it. But, we should put all of the names in a hat or a bowl and that's how the duets are decided. We wouldn't want anyone to double book themselves."

Michelle smiled. "That's a great idea." She then saw all of A Troupe walking into the studio and turned back to Kate.

"Well, I think now is a great time to tell them."

A couple of minutes later, Kate and Michelle came out of Kate's office with a bowl with bits of paper in it.

"Okay A Troupe," Kate started, "gather round, because we have a bonding exercise for you all."

All of A Troupe circled around Kate and Michelle, and Michelle started talking.

"Back when I was in A Troupe and we were preparing for Regionals, Kate and our head choreographer at the time assigned us all to do duets with whoever we chose, and that's what we're assigning to you guys."

Before Michelle could continue, everyone started buzzing about who they would want to do the duet with.

"But," Michelle raised her voice above everyone else's, which made everyone silence themselves and look at her, "you will not be choosing your partners. You'll pick a name out of this bowl, and whatever name you choose, they'll be your duet partner."

The dancers looked a little glum at that announcement, but they kept listening.

"So," Kate looked around the room before looking at April, "April, how about you come up here first and pick a name out?"

As April walked to the front of the room, Richelle nudged Allison and whispered to her, "So, who do you hope to get as a duet partner?"

Allison sighed and said, "I'm good with either you, April, or Noah. Just pretty much anyone but Jordan."

Richelle nodded in understanding as April picked a name out and looked at it.

"Melanie." April announced.
