(a/n; hi, yes, i am alive!!! i just got major writer's block for what was almost four months i think lmao. but is that really that surprising when it comes to me?

"I can't believe this is happening." Allison said as she walked over to the couch section of Hidalgo's where what was left of A Troupe was sitting.
"Me neither." Richelle said, still in shock from the announcement that was made earlier.
"What do you guys think is going to happen?" Melanie asked as a nervous look formed on her face.
"I have no idea babe." April said, grabbing onto Melanie's hand. "But, whatever happens, it can't be that bad, right?"
"Uhh, I don't know April." Piper said, looking around at what was left of A Troupe. "After this, we could have a bunch of Elite members as team members."
"Or they could completely take over A Troupe after we all lose our spots." Henry said glumly, and all of A Troupe snapped their heads towards him, annoyance and fear written all over their faces.
"Dude!" Noah said as he hit Henry on the back of his head. "Don't say things like that!"
"Sorry! I just got scared!" Henry said in defence.
"Yeah, we're all scared Henry," Izzy started, "but we shouldn't be thinking about losing! We should be thinking about coming up with the best solos to beat Elite!"
"Izzy's right," April said, smiling for the first time that day, "A Troupe is about competing, we should consider this as practice for Internationals."
"Yeah," Noah said, nodding as he started to get where they were coming from, "this is just one obstacle in the way of Internationals. We've gotten through obstacles before, who says we can't get through this one?"
"Yeah!" Most of what was left of A Troupe cheered.
"LET'S GO WORK ON OUR SOLOS!" April yelled, and then all of A Troupe dispersed, leaving Allison sitting there alone, staring into space.
She understood where everyone else was coming from, sure, but who knows what A Troupe would even look like after the battle was over? Would it even be recognisable?
Did Allison even want to compete?

"Unless you open up..." Izzy mumble-sang to herself as she walked into Studio A, going through her best moves in her head when she heard Miss Kate talking to someone in her office, and immediately hid somewhere where she could hear the conversation happening inside.
What? This is Izzy we're talking about. Did you expect her to not eavesdrop?
"... Yes, I'm one hundred percent serious. We're low on team members and while I'm keeping Jordan's spot warm just in case, we still need one more member. So, what do you say? Will you fight for The Next Step?"
So Miss Kate was asking someone to join the fight for A Troupe... who could she be asking?
"I'd love to Miss Kate! Thank you so much!" Elly said, holding back a squeal, and Izzy's jaw dropped in shock.
Piper and Henry, who had been listening in as well since they had happened to be walking by, immediately glanced at Izzy to see how she'd react just as she noticed that they were there.
"I-I-I can't b-believe this!" Izzy spluttered in shock. "I c-c-ould end up being on the s-s-same t-t-t-team as her!"
"Izzy, I can hear you, you know." Miss Kate said from her office, and Izzy froze.
"Sorry Miss Kate!" Izzy said, and then immediately ran off, leaving Piper and Henry to process what just happened as Elly walked out of Miss Kate's office.
"Well, congrats Elly!" Piper said, grinning. Elly was a beautiful dancer, and Piper was super excited that they'd have a dancer like her on their side.
"Yeah, welcome to the battle against Elite." Henry said.
"Thanks!" Elly said, beaming for a second before fear crept onto her face. "How tough do you think this'll be?"
Henry and Piper glanced at each other, trying to come up with an answer, before Piper turned back to Elly.
"Honestly? It could be our hardest challenge yet."

The next day, all of A Troupe were stretching in Studio A when Miss Kate walked in with 'The Gang' behind her.
"Okay guys, I got a cryptic text from Lucien that he... actually wrote out as if he was pronouncing the words in french via text." Miss Kate said reluctantly, and Izzy had to hold back a giggle, knowing it wasn't an appropriate time to laugh. "So that means he's probably coming to the studio sometime today to start the battle or at least talk to you all about it."
"Miss Kate, are you sure this is our only choice?" Allison asked, still unsure about it all.
Miss Kate sighed forlornly before saying, "Yes, Allison, this is unfortunately our only choice. Trust me, if there was some other choice, I would jump on it right now."
"This is going to be really difficult you guys," Michelle said, wanting to warn the dancers, "some of you might not be a part of A Troupe when all of this is over. Are you guys sure you're ready for whatever happens?"
Almost all of A Troupe cheered a big, "YES!" to that, but no one noticed that Allison hadn't even opened her mouth.
Seemingly out of nowhere, Miss Kate, 'The Gang', and A Troupe all heard a thunder of footsteps.
Not even one minute later did Lucien enter Studio A with twelve Elite dancers flanked behind him.
"Bonjour again, dancers! Who's ready for ze battles of all battles?" Lucien asked in his phoney french accent, grinning as he looked at all of A Troupe's nervous faces.
"I can't do this." Allison muttered before running out of Studio A, and with everyone looking at Lucien and Elite, no one had noticed her leaving.
