Hey again! So, let's skip 180 odd years and get to the banter of family already! In this chapter, you get to see what it's like living with vampires and a few of the secrets that haunt Lexi. I hope you love this chapter and if you have any improvements or suggestions to improve my story then please feel free to point them out.
Chapter 1:
Los Angeles, October 3rd, 2014.
Lexi.
Sundays were always the hardest for me. During the day, I'd sneak out. During the night, I'd stay at home and keep up my charade of the perfect little vampire.
It wasn't fair.
For God knows how many years, I'd watched humans being born, growing up, falling in so called 'love', having children, getting married, growing old and then dying.
And what have I done?
I was born, I lived for 17 years and then I died.
Now I didn't have the chance to grow up, fall in 'love', have children, grow old, get married and die again, for real, with the person I supposedly 'love'.
You may be wondering why I'm putting quotation marks over 'love' and it's because I don't believe in it.
Becky and Luke always go on about how much they 'love' each other but I've never been in 'love'. I've asked people what 'love' is and all I get in reply is sappy stuff and I don't want to hear it.
I'll never find it and I never want to.
End of.
I have my family. I don't need anybody else.
Well, a friend or two would be nice, but that's not allowed - curtesy of Luke. That reminded me of the first time I brought Dee back to my house.
"Please just stay outside - I would not be able to forgive myself if he spoke to you in an unforgiving manner." The door mocked me, as if father was waiting on the other side for me.
"It will be find Lex. Trust me. I am a bit more than persuading." A mischievous look gleamed in her eyes. I did not know what she meant but all the same, I trusted her.
"Ok then."
I took the handle in my hands. Sweat poured from my palms and I had to wipe them on my dress before getting the courage to open the door. As I pushed it open, father was sat on his 'special chair'. Although, every piece of furniture in this house was his 'special chair', 'special bed', 'special table', 'special bathroom' and I was made to use anything but his 'special' anything. He still had not noticed me.
"Are you coming in?" I mouthed to Dee.
"Are you going to invite me?" She mouthed back. Odd, I thought. Although, I was not surprised. Dee was always very cautious around people and she never liked to come across as rude or ill mannered.
"Come in." I whispered.
She cautiously walked to the door, looked at the floor mat and held her hand out. I walked inside and after a moment, she followed suit.
"Did you get them?" He asked, not looking up from his journals that he had been writing in since before I was born.
I grabbed them off Delina."Yes father. Just like you asked." I looked down at the loaf of bread, meat and wool.
I was not quite sure what meat it was but all the same, it was meat. I usually would have gone hunting for some with my bow and arrow that I hand crafted but father told me that if I did not get them from the local tradesman then I would be punished. I did not want that.
