Hey guys! I thought I'd tell you that all of my chapters will be shorter from now on, mainly so I can upload more frequently. Don't worry, there will still be a lot of chapters. I hope you enjoy this chapter.

Chapter 5

Jayden

Holy shit! I was only faking to be under her spell to test my theory if she was a vampire or not and I got more than I wanted. She's a vampire, my mind raced, she's a fricking vampire! I had to tell Rose immediately but from the look on Lexi's face, I reconsidered - she actually looked regretful.

"No. Shit. Fuck." She kept on swearing under her breath and rambling on about how she didn't want to compel me. I was genuinely surprised because I'd never known a vampire that wasn't a killing machine.

She grabbed me by the shoulders and told me to forget her. I laughed inside but decided to go with it. What she didn't know is that werewolves can't be compelled but I didn't tell her that.

No one knew my family were werewolves because the vampires thought they had exterminated the lot of us but my family was the last one alive. When she finished, I immediately put on a confused face and shook my head.

"Hi, you must be the new girl. I'm Jayden Barrack," I said in a tone suggesting that I wanted to be friends, "Nice to meet you." I held out my hand and she took it.

"I'm Lexi Moore," She gave my hand a shake, "Nice to meet you too." Her soft tone sent shivers down my spine.

"So where are you from? You have an accent I'm not that familiar with." I asked and she took a deep breath.

"I'm from America but South America, near Mexico. I was born in Europe but got moved down there when my father - I mean dad - got a new job." She started and I didn't know whether I could believe her or not. "But then they split up when I was 5 and my mum gained custody over me. A year later, she died of cancer and as it turned out, my dad lost his job and wasn't in the right state to look after me - nor did he want to. I got put into foster care and Lucas and Rebekah, or Luke and Becky as I call them, adopted me and have been my parents ever since." There was definitely emotion in her voice and it cracked at the end. Honestly, I thought that it went somewhere along them lines. "And I'm telling you this, why?" Lexi raised her hand and pinched the bridge of her nose for a second.

"I'm so sorry. I wish I didn't ask." I said and placed a hand on her arm. She flinched and I wondered what all that was about. A sudden current of electricity ran up my body and I groaned inwardly at how good it felt.

"No, no - it's fine. Really. It's just been a long time since I've seen them." She said, trying to brighten up, and pulled her arm back with a strained look on her face. My hand went with her an she gave me a quizzical look.

I'm sure it has been, I thought and I wondered how long she'd been alive. Or undead should I say. "Are you sure?" I asked and pulled my arm away, hating to leave the touch of her body. She gave a nod. "Why are you wearing contacts?" I asked before I could stop myself.

"How did you know I was wearing contacts?" She asked, sounding a little bit panicked.

"The light's being reflected off the plastic and I can't see them properly." I lied. Well, it wasn't necessarily a lie; the light reflecting it had almost blinded me. It was a good thing I was a quick thinker, though.

"Oh," she started and sighed, "Well, I suppose I don't like my eye colour." I knew it was a lie though. She didn't want to draw attention to herself.

"Why? What colour are your natural eyes?" I asked.

"Um," she hesitated and I knew how risky this was for her kind. "Indigo." She stated shyly.

"Why would you want to hide that? They sound amazing." Her pale cheeks instantly turned bright red. Indigo? I thought vampires all had red eyes? This is wierd.
