Hey guys so it's been ages and no excuses this time. I got sidetracked and completely forgot this book existed. I would have left an authors note but I don't like them. So here is a longer chapter to makeup for it. Enjoy :)

Chapter 15

Lexi

After the episode in the canteen, I had my last lesson of the day, French.

The options were either French, German, Italian or Spanish and although I could speak all of them fluently, I chose French because, after all, it is the language of love. Well, in my opinion anyway. And I know I've made this big statement about me not believing in love but I do think that French is a beautiful language.

The teacher seemed nice enough; a short and stocky woman with a little too much blue eyeshadow and red lipstick for a woman of her age. Her dark brown hair was always in a tight bun on top of her head, making her cheeks look even chubbier, with no stray strands of hair to frame the face.

Her accent seemed genuine and from the way she pronounced every 'the' as 'zhe', without meaning to, I could tell that she had lived in France for some time before coming to America.

She seemed to know what she was teaching, which was a relief, and although I had started halfway through a term, Madam Delorme had given me the papers to catch up, even though I didn't really need to.

She had been one of the first teachers in 2 days to not look at me with a scowl as they realised that I didn't know anything of what they had been teaching over the past term. And that, got her straight onto my Good List.

Her lesson was easy, well, for me anyway, and she seemed genuinely impressed with my French.

I had to make up a story of staying with a foster family in France for 2 years when I was around 8 and they didn't speak English so I had to learn to speak it. Madam seamed to accept it though, without question.

When the bell had rung at the end of the lesson, I thanked Madam for the extra sheets of paper and went to meet up with Hannah. After Jayden and Callum's grand exit at lunch, me and Hannah had talked for a bit. We had only known each other for not even 2 days but we were already on the way to becoming best friends.

I'd had my share of best friends; Aaron (childhood bestie), Delina (teenage bestie), Jasmine (bestie whilst I lived in India) and Georgia (my current bestie), but I had a feeling that this friendship would last longer than those. We had decided to meet up after school and go to her place - she had invited me over so we could do our history project that our teacher had set us that day.

I would have suggested inviting Chelsea as well but after she left the canteen, she hadn't bothered to come back and tell us that she was all right, so we had to assume that she had gone back to last period. I told Han that I'd meet her at the schools front gates about 5 minutes after school finished so we could set off walking.

As I was making my way over to the front of the school, I herd a whimper.

And I'm not talking like a dog whimper but like a terrified whimper.

I stopped and put my back against the brick wall, peering around the corner. A small girl with short black hair, cropped around the shoulders, clutched onto her Prada bag like her life depended on it.

She shrunk back with her shoulders hunched, stumbling in her heels. A tall figure with almost blonde hair sporting a beanie had his back to me. But even I could tell, from the back, that his stance was more predatory.

"Please, d-don't h-h..." Her voice trailed off, sounding vaguely familiar, even in the scared shitless tone she said it in.
"Now, now, Kayla. Don't run away from me - it will only make me chase after you."
