Hey guys! So sorry for the late entry but Wattpad was being really weird and not letting me sign in or connect to Facebook. Let me know if this had ever happened to you guys. Anyway, hope you enjoy!
Chapter 10
Jayden
I slammed my front door shut without meaning to. I just couldn't help it! Something had been nagging at me all day and, for God knows why, I just couldn't shake the feeling like I was missing something. After lunch, I had a free period that I spent on the track field doing laps because it helped me think. With a couple of classes on the field, I had to be careful not to run too fast and draw attention to myself, which was hard. I just had so much energy today and I didn't know why or how.
"Now, what did that door ever do to you?" Mum leant with her hip against the wall and her arms crossed. Her blonde hair was in loose curls and she had a couple of leaves in there, an obvious sign that she'd had a run today.
"Sorry. I'm just so confused." I replied, running a hand through my hair.
She cocked an eyebrow at me. "Care to elaborate?"
I shook my head no. How could I tell her about something even I didn't understand?
"Well, Rose has cheerleading practise now and Emily finishes school in 15 minutes so I'm going to set off to pick her up. Wanna come with?" She jingled her keys in front of my face.
"Mum, we don't own a car." I knew she was using her house keys but I still used that joke on her.
She frowned impatiently. "Yes, or no?"
"Ok, I'll go pick Em up with you. Just let me put my bag in my room."
I ran upstairs and threw my bag onto my black bed sheets. I specifically chose black because sometimes, I spill my drinks or food and...yeah, that's not it. Don't tell anyone, but I used to...wet the bed. I was like 11, ok? Maybe 12...maybe. But the colour grew on me so I decided to stick with them.
Me and mum got to Em's school just after the bell went. That was a relief because after 11 bells going off today - 1 to signal the start of form time, 1 to signal the start of first period, 6 for each period of the day, 1 to signal lunch and 1 for the end of the day - my ears were about ready to bleed or fall off.
Or bleed and then fall off.
"Just go in and get her please?" Mum asked.
"Sure." I sighed.
Every Tuesday, I went in and got Emily from school. That's usually because Rosalind has cheerleading practise and I don't like being left alone in our house where I'm so open to attacks. I'd prefer to be with our Alpha, mum. Until I turn 18, mum is the Alpha, I'm the Beta, and Rose is third in command. Emily's like our little guard dog. She can't actually turn into a wolf yet because she's not 18 but she knows good from bad in a person and if she growls, she can see that you're bad at heart, and if she hugs you, she knows that you're good at heart. I don't know how she does it but it's helped with a lot of friends, or who I thought were friends, in the past.
"Can I help you?"
The woman behind the desk was at least 20 with short, mahogany coloured hair, big grey eyes, a small nose and a smirk planted on her face. Melanie. Pronounced Mel-ayne-ie, not Mel-an-ie, as I get told every time I get her name wrong. And just like every other Tuesday, she flashed me her signature smile and raised her eyebrow suggestively. Ugh. It's an older version of Trina.
"Not with what you're thinking of." I replied coolly with a straight face.
Her brows furrowed and she lost her smile. She quickly recovered and gave me a wink. "Let me know when you change your mind."
