Chapter Two

It's been a week, since the attack on Pearl Harbor. And nobody has been the same since. There were soldiers who had lost their lives and nurses whose lives were lost. With over two thousand people that died. There were ships that sunk, and mostly it was sailors that were killed because the USS Arizona and USS Oklahoma were bombed and there were many men in those boats. It was heard that both of the boats collided, and men that weren't on the boat tried to save men that were in there, and the USS Arizona got the first hit and was immediately sunk to the bottom of the ocean.

There were people that were still grieving, some people that didn't know if they could continue to go on with their whereabouts, Peter especially. He was affected the most. Peter saw more blood and wounds than you can imagine. He hasn't really spoken either since the attack. Peter was always one to crack jokes to make a light out of terrible times. But this was way different, different than a scraped knee or a broken bone. Lives were being lost, and the United States has gone into the War that they were mutual in.

Delilah and the other girls were overwhelmed, seeing men lose their lives, knowing that they had to act fast in everything they had to fast. But Delilah was the one that was the most affected, she had to take action fast, and had to be quick, the pressure that was put on her was high. Her friends had a hard time as well, trying to cope with everything that happened, it was probably the thought that the war was actually happening. Also along with that, it was the fact that They had friends that they lost and men that they fell for. Delilah was lucky to not lose Gavin because that was something she was fearing the entire day. But overall, Gavin ended up being a hero. Fighting the Japanese air pilots on his own. He got praise for his heroic actions. Because he was a hero, and everyone in Hawaii could see his courageous behavior. Gavin always was confident. But never too cocky type of confident. But he was confident in everything. His training, when he first met Delilah in high school, his academics, and everything. so whenever he got praise, he felt like a hero. And when you grow up in a small state like New Hampshire, everyone is going to know Gavin Kelly as the confident soccer star in high school that grew up to be a War Hero.

Days passed and there was a funeral to grieve those whose lives were lost, At the funeral, everyone gathered together for comfort, Gavin and Peter lost their friend Kenny, who has been with Gavin since he first joined the military. Gavin got the most comfort from Dominic, who is seen as harsh and cold most of the time, and his best friend Mike, who was always looking out for everyone. While Delilah looked at Gavin and rushed to his comfort.While the girls, Lucy, Delilah and Nancy were with them as well. grieving the lives that were lost.

Delilah knew she had to be strong, for all the ones that were around her, the girls, the men that were trying to hold back their tears, she was someone who was always good at keeping things together even in the worst times.

"Kenny was a brave man." Delilah stated, "He died a hero."

Delilah also knew Kenny well, she met him at a party a little bit after she and Gavin started dating, he introduced her to Kenny a little bit after he joined the military. Which is why Kenny dying was something that was going to be upsetting to her, mainly because it was upsetting to Gavin. Gavin nodded, and he agreed. Kenny was someone that never gave up on Gavin, he never gave up on Peter either. Kenny was one of the bravest men Gavin had ever met, and the thought of Kenny dying killed Gavin on the inside, he couldn't imagine who else he could end up losing during the rest of this war.

But Gavin had a secret, a secret that could be a life-changer, and the only person he told was Peter. This particular news really upset Peter, it was fear, jealousy, and upsetness all into one.

"Do you want one of us to go find Peter?" Mike asked, slightly concerned about whether or not Peter was feeling depressed or traumatized by the events. But Peter was nowhere to be found.
