Delilah spent the night pondering. Pondering why Gavin would keep her in the dark about this. She thought he would tell her everything, but telling Peter before her, is what hurt her more. She understood that Peter was Gavin's brother, so obviously he would tell him first, but she was upset that he wasn't planning on telling her at all. She felt betrayed, angry, and hurt all rolled into one. As she started to walk away, she felt her heart sink to her stomach and then shatter into a million pieces, she tried her hardest not to hold the tears back, because she didn't want to be seen as weak or as someone that is crying over something like this.

Because she realized that this was reality, this was a war that they were in, and people were going to die every day. Not just one person, but thousands of men were dying every day.

"Delilah?" she heard someone call her name, which sounded like a girl's voice, and she immediately turned around because, at that moment when she heard her name, she instantly knew who it was.

"Hi Lucy," she replied. Lucy smiled at Delilah as she looked down at the ground, and immediately Lucy noticed that something was up, Lucy was always the type of girl who had good instincts and always knew when someone was upset and if things weren't right, Lucy was always the perfect person to call.

"Lilah, is everything alright?" Lucy asked, Delilah couldn't get the words out without sobbing. Lucy didn't want her to break down, because she hated seeing people cry.

"Lilah..." Lucy tried to talk to her again, Lucy had a pen and a notepad with her in her pocket and took them out and gave it to Delilah, "Here, you can write it out if you don't want to speak."

Delilah wrote down everything, or as much as she could. Delilah didn't break, she didn't even crack, which was mind-boggling to Lucy. As Lucy read what Delilah wrote, she was in utter shock about what occurred when she started reading.

"Gavin's leaving?" Lucy asked as she read the first few words, "Tomorrow?"

Delilah nodded and tears were streaming, as Lucy saw those tears, she reached in for a hug and Delilah accepted. Lucy hugged her as tight as she possibly could, Delilah knew that Lucy would always listen to anyone's issues. Lucy was sweet and caring, and even though she was the youngest of the girls, she could understand better than anyone else. Lucy did come from a rough background, but she never let that take away her innocence. As Lucy let go, Delilah started to calm down, and both of them realized that they needed to face the reality of Gavin leaving, his heroic actions resulted in a dream coming true, even though his life and death were at risk of being taken from him.

"So, what are you going to do about this?" Lucy asked

"I..." Delilah stuttered, "As much as I am happy for him because this is his dream, I don't want him to leave."

Delilah didn't want to be selfish. And Lucy knew that, but when men are called for a mission, they have to accept that and Delilah knew that as well.

"I cannot imagine the fear in your eyes right now," Lucy stated, "I know how much you love him."

"You know he and I met in High School?" Delilah asked, "He was the star athlete and I was a popular cheerleader."

"Really?" Lucy asked, "I wish I could find a love like that."

"You will Lu, I know you will." Delilah knew that Lucy was shy, and was someone who was often unsure of herself, like most eighteen almost nineteen-year-old girls, she had a lot of growing up to do. She wasn't as mature as everyone else, because she was the only one who hadn't reached her twenties yet. So it was easy for her to be picked on, especially by someone like Dominic, who no one could ever tolerate. Lucy was an easy target, and Delilah knew that, so when they first met back in August, Delilah knew she would look after Lucy and be there for her at her highs and lows. And Lucy, she would do exactly the same. That's why her friendship means so much to her. They would never stop having each other's backs.
