These past few weeks were great for Peter and Delilah, they spent some time together, hoping they could get themselves back on track. But whatever happened, they would do it together. They went back to Hawaii in between those few weeks as well, it was nice to be back, and Delilah spent a lot of time with Peter, Peter often visited her at work, and Delilah would visit him on his flying breaks. There were also nights that they spent together, and always made sure they would have great conversations about things not involving the war, and what was happening next. There was still a war, they would not forget that, but there were times that both of them wanted to clear their heads and think of something else in this. Because at the end of the day, Peter could still potentially get drafted into battle. It could be a quick hurry draft like Gavin was drafted. But sometimes Peter forgot about the fact that they were still in a war. And he constantly told Delilah that as well.
"You really forget that the war is still happening?" Delilah asked
"Yeah, all the time, I know it's not good I know that, but the more time I spend with you. The more I forget." Peter said, "You really have helped me a lot, and thank you for that."
Delilah was pleased that she was able to help Peter. Not only with grief, but with his self-esteem.
"You are a wonderful man Peter." Delilah said to him and kissed his cheek, "Don't you forget that, no matter what anyone says."
It seemed like both of them were happy together, Delilah was finally happy and was with someone who would take care of her, and someone she knew she could trust.
"Does everyone else know about us?" Delilah said,
"Kind of," Peter said, "I told Mike and Dom about my crush on you and they tried to help me out of it, Out of respect for Gavin..."
"I mean... I understand." Delilah said, she definitely understood, "But I know you well enough to know you won't leave me in a second. And all of this happened so fast."
"I know..." Peter said, "Really damn fast, but that's life isn't it?"
But Peter's friends had some doubts, and so did Delilah's friends, especially Nancy, and Dominic. Nancy was not afraid to express her opinions to Delilah on her relationship with Peter. Dominic even confronted her. And for once those two actually agreed with something. Dominic and Nancy also confronted Peter, after all, it was the fiancee of his brother he was seeing. Nancy and Dominic decided to confront Peter and Delilah together the moment they returned home. Them agreeing and working together on something was brand new for the both of them. Dominic had both of them sitting down, and Peter knew that Dominic was not going to be pleased.
"Can you explain to me what you were thinking?" Nancy asked, "Slumming with Gavin's brother. And Peter, how can you do this to Gavin?" Nancy was always very expressive. She was expressive about this in particular because she knew it was wrong.
"I told you to avoid her? Remember?" Dominic asked, "It just went in one ear and out the other, and Delilah you are way too smart for this!"
"I'm moving on," Delilah said, "I needed to move on."
"But you should move on with a new man, not the dead guy's brother!" Nancy shouted
As all of them spent a whole minute arguing and talking over each other, the door knocked, Dominic, Peter, and Nancy were arguing as Delilah got the door as Mike and Lucy were at the door.
"Dom called us for an intervention." Lucy said, "What's going on?"
Delilah rolled her eyes and looked at Dominic, and Dominic pointed at Peter. Mike immediately knew what was happening, Mike knew that Peter and Delilah were together at that moment. It took moments for Lucy to pick up the pieces until she looked at Delilah and covered her face with shock. She never would have expected Delilah and Peter to be together. She never expected Peter to do this to his own brother.
"You alright Lu?" Nancy asked,
"Just surprised, surprised if anything" Lucy said looking at Delilah surprised, she then looked at Peter and tried to figure it all out.
"Are you actually supporting this?" Nancy asked
"I just think that both of them deserve to be happy after everything they have gone through these past few months," Mike said looking at Peter. Mike was happy for Peter and wanted Peter to be happy.
"So you support this?" Dominic asked
"Don't yell at Mike, Dominic!" Lucy yelled
"Jesus Christ, aren't you happy she's with someone she knows and not just a random soldier?" Peter asked, "Gavin's dead, and I know her pretty damn well."
"DO YOU EVEN HEAR YOURSELF?" Nancy asked yelling loud.
"Do not yell guys!" Lucy said trying to talk to Delilah, "Lilah, do you wanna go on a walk or something?"
"I'm fine Lucy," Delilah replied to Lucy distressed.
"You know Dominic, I thought you would be a little more supportive, especially since we're friends," Peter called out
"Yes of course we're friends, but if you do something stupid I am going to tell you."
It had gotten to the point where everyone was fighting, talking over one another, and Nancy was arguing with Delilah and Dominic with Peter. Mike and Lucy tried their best to calm everyone down but nothing was working. Everyone was arguing until Mike said something.
"Everyone Quiet! This is completely and utterly ridiculous." Lucy nodded agreeing with Mike, "You all want to know my stance, Peter, Delilah as long as you are all happy then fine, but you can't control who you fall for. Delilah. You're gorgeous and can have any man you want, but I just wasn't expecting it to be Gavin's brother. Peter broke all codes, but at least she's with someone she knows."
Peter looked at Dominic and smirked, and Dominic gave him the middle finger Mike noticed, Mike looked at him like Dominic was a puppy and Mike pointed his finger telling him to stop acting like a child. They were all acting childish and arguing like children would, almost like a family with multiple children. They needed to work this out. They could do it. Altogether, they had each other's backs no matter what, but they needed to conquer the fact that Peter and Delilah were together and they could not get away with their happiness.
