The thought of finally getting a mission and getting an opportunity to prove his worth reminded Peter that he can do it, and he finally would get the chance to prove his worth. Peter was pleased and was even more grateful that Gavin was going with him. They got to live their dream together and can both become a hero for their country. Along with that, their friends would be there with them and all of them were going to make a name for themselves and become a hero, because all of them knew they were brave enough, strong enough, to fight and be in the air.

There were moments that scared him a bit.

What if neither one of them came back?

Gavin already died once, and it almost destroyed him and Delilah entirely and he didn't want to have to go through that again.

As Gavin, Mike, and Peter all sat down that day, they went to go find Dominic to tell him what was occurring.

Dominic was nervous about this mission they were assigned for just as much as Mike was. He felt that things were going to end badly because he's seen how war has affected people and he saw how it affected Gavin. And the stories Gavin told him about his father, and he had family members that fought in the First World War against Germany and how it affects lives and families. But Dominic was tough, he wasn't afraid of a fight, and he wasn't afraid to see things how they were. So he knew he was ready to fight in this next battle for real, he fought the Japanese on the attack in Hawaii back in December, so he knew he could do it and he was ready for battle. He tried to remember why he enlisted in the first place, because he always had a tough guy role and everyone around him encouraged him to fight in the military, and he always had a passion for flying and was always strong. No matter what hardships he would have to face, and would fight for his country until his last dying breath.

Mike was curious about where he was going to end up and was worried about what was going to happen. He didn't really have family that fought, and he didn't really know much about what he was getting into, he didn't have too much knowledge about war and its effects, and didn't think much about it until the attack on Pearl Harbor. He saw horrors that day and thought about it daily. Mike thought about the people that died, and how some of his friends almost died, and he almost died too. That made him realize that he could do so much more than he ever thought he could do, since he grew up being told that he couldn't do it, so when he decided to enlist, he knew what he was facing and he knew what he was getting himself into and he wanted to defy the odds from his background. He felt like he had grown since he enlisted, not only as a soldier but as a man, and he was able to do things while in the military that he wouldn't do in his real day-to-day life.

Gavin had mixed emotions because he didn't know where he was going. None of them did. Gavin didn't want to leave Delilah again and have her wondering where he went. But he knew that she would understand, because when he had to go if he was called, or he would be kicked out or blacklisted from the military. And he saw how his brother and girlfriend reacted to the first mission he was sent for, but this was different. It was different because now his brother was going to be by his side. And they were going to work together to fight, and they were going to return back home safe and sound, and there was no doubt about it. And he told himself that he would do anything in his power to make sure Peter returns home alive as well. Because he wanted Peter to be safe, and he didn't want anything to happen to him.

Peter felt like he was finally getting everything he wanted, he wanted to be a hero and fight like his father was. But sometimes he forgot about the effects war can have on a man. And he enlisted because of his brother and because he was sick of being compared to his brother, overall he was glad he enlisted because it was something he never imagined himself to be doing and he somewhat felt like he enlisted for the wrong reasons. To impress people in his life and be someone else. He knew why he enlisted, and he knew what the effect would have on his self-esteem and how much of the comparison between him and Gavin would prove to be too much. But he didn't let it break him, because he tried to remind himself of when Gavin left, and how took that as an opportunity to train for himself, and without Gavin busting his ass too much. He got to be just Peter. And Not Gavin's Little Brother. Because he knew that he was more than just Gavin's little brother. He was so much more than that.
