Hours passed and Delilah, Nancy, and Lucy were all preparing for Dominic's get-together. Nancy applied more makeup than she usually did. And Lucy wanted to wear red lipstick for the first time. Delilah helped her apply it so she didn't wear too much in case she didn't like it too much. Lucy was never one to wear makeup, but Delilah and Nancy were always ones to wear makeup, especially at work when it was completely unnecessary.
But Lucy was definitely happy with the girls helping her look her best. Lucy was so grateful to have girls that would be able to look after her and help her make it up for the friends that she didn't have growing up. Lucy was always shy. Delilah and Nancy understood that so when they all met, they did everything they could to make sure she felt the most comfortable as possible. And if Lucy was ever nervous to say the wrong thing, they would always give her the reassurance that she needed, or if any moment she doubted herself, Delilah would make sure she felt confident. Especially when she was getting interested in boys because she found most of the men in Hawaii attractive. So when she found out Gavin and Delilah were together she asked Gavin if he could set her up with a friend.
"Do you think the boys will be checking us out?" Lucy asked, Nancy and Delilah knew how Lucy wanted to grow up, maybe it was because she was sick of being treated like the youngest, even though she was.
"Peter, Dominic, and Mike are all still available hun," Nancy claimed as she was putting on her bright red lipstick, "But don't try to go for Gavin, because our lovely Delilah has him."
Lucy nodded, "Don't worry. I don't care for Gavin. No offense." Delilah was not offended because she knew what Lucy meant.
"Don't worry. No offense taken." Delilah added, "Do you have a dress you want to wear Lu?"
Lucy shook her head. She wore the same one to every event and didn't want to do that again, she knew she needed a change. A change of paste.
"You can wear one of mine that I don't wear anymore if you want," Delilah said to her,
"Okay." Lucy loved the thought of wearing Delilah's dresses, it felt like she was the sister she never had. Especially growing up with a protective older brother, who was in the navy, her brother was protective, but also had a sweet and sensitive side and wasn't afraid to let his guard down in front of anyone, and also had an older sister, who was praised a lot even though she made a lot of poor choices, and her father, who was also protective of her and came from richer family backgrounds. But she didn't let her high-class personality define her and never boasted.
As Lucy changed into Delilah's floral dress, she started to ask her some questions in regards to Gavin, and the news that was sprung on her in the past couple of hours. From Gavin announcing that he was being sent away to a top-secret mission, and the fact that he wasn't planning on telling her. Lucy and Peter convinced her to fix things and she did exactly that.
"Lilah, did you reconcile with Gavin?" She asked
Delilah nodded. "I did. because this is something that Gavin has been preparing for, for as long as I can remember, I remember him talking about fighting in a war in High School."
"Awww sweet, you are choosing to support him." Nancy added, "You guys are so sweet, it makes me sick." She added as she made a throw-up noise putting on her dress. Nancy hated the thought of everyone falling in love. Just seeing people all lovey-dovey made her sick to her stomach, it wasn't because her friends had it and she wanted it, it was more of the thought of everything that happened with her parents.
"Don't you want to fall in love Nancy?" Delilah asked her
Nancy shook her head.
"Love doesn't always work Delilah, so I would recommend not getting your hopes up with Gavin," Nancy added on,
