The next morning everyone was slowly waking up but at different times. Gavin woke up next to Delilah and he was in heaven he had less than twenty-four hours left with her so he would do whatever he could to spend these last hours with her. He was going to miss her, more than anyone can imagine. Peter too, because he had something that he cared about in regards to Delilah, but they never knew when they would return again. But everything was turning out the way it was, only he was going to have to leave her again, and his friends and his brother were too.
Peter knocked on the door and opened it without warning, and as he opened it, Peter smiled and looked at the two of them, Gavin slowly woke up and saw his little brother. He was trying to not get distracted because he wanted to see Delilah and stay in bed with her, who was still asleep and has always been a heavy sleeper.
"Gavin." Peter called trying to shake him to wake him up, "Wake up!"
Gavin got up and could tell that he was clearly annoyed by being hounded by Peter. Gavin turned around and did his best to make sure that he didn't wake up Delilah, and as he turned around, he didn't wake her up.
"What Peter, what?" Gavin moaned, "I need sleep."
"The bus is here," Peter said,
"What?" Gavin said getting up quickly, "I thought it was tomorrow."
"So did I, but I guess not."
"Well, what are you waiting for wake the boys up," Gavin said sounding like it was a typical brother argument
"The boys are already up, Mike and Dom are ready, we came to get you."
Delilah started to wake up and was confused as Gavin started to get dressed quickly, Delilah was confused.
"Peter, what's going on?" Delilah asked,
"We're leaving, like now. Today." Peter chanted and started to clap to get Gavin to hurry up, Gavin was stunned thinking that it should be him the one usually telling him to hurry. "You're really going to let a girl distract you, Gavin."
Delilah smiled as Gavin put his shoes on and ran downstairs.
"Chop chop!" Peter yelled and looked at Delilah and they smiled at each other.
"Look after him Peter," Delilah said,
"I will, he kind of needs it."
Delilah chuckled and Peter ran off, but she shouted for him before he left because she wanted him to know something before he left for the war that he could potentially not be back from.
"I did feel for you Peter," Delilah said, "And I'm sure there's another girl that is willing to be with you I don't doubt that for a minute because I saw so much in you, ever since you first enlisted, because I grew up with you seeing you as this 'adorable unsure of himself boy', and then I saw you for who you really are here, you're kind, you're witty, you're compassionate, and you just have everything that a girl would want."
Peter sighed, he didn't know if she actually meant it, because he spent his entire life being in second place, and his own brother's love saw something in him.
"Thanks, Delilah."
"Just know I adore you."
Peter smiled and ran off and mumbled "thank you Lilah" under his breath hoping she didn't hear him but she did, and he knew Delilah would always be honest even if it was the truth and it was sometimes things that Peter needed, was reassurance that he was going to be happy because sometimes he never believed it.
Gavin came running in, and Peter was walking with him and they rushed over to see Mike and Dominic in a line, and Gavin and Peter went to go into that line, and all of them saluted the General that was in front of them. Peter looked over to see an exhausted Mike, really hoping that the general would not notice how he was high last night. Mike had that concern as well because he would be in deep trouble if they got drug tested or if he was ever caught in the possession of them, even though it was not really his fault.
