The bark of the trees was piercing Addison's skin as she pressed her back against it, ignoring the burn that covered her skin, Rebecca was tightly holding her hand, stuttered breathes leaving both girls lips. Their only chance of escaping with minimal injuries was resting on Addison's shoulders, and her ability to try and place the footsteps that were surrounding them. "Come on Barnes, you can't hide forever!" A man's voice called out, inching closer to the tree where Addison and Rebecca were hiding. "What do we do?" Rebecca asked quietly, her hand in Addison's while she watched Addison scan the area, looking for trees that would keep them hidden. "Dart in the shadows, I can handle things," Addison paused when foot steps got closer, pulling Rebecca down lower so they were covered further by the massive trunk, "I can handle things if they escalate, go to that tree over there and wait." Addison stated, pointing in the direction of a fallen tree, Rebecca's eyes flashing in panic as she looked at her sister in law. "Addison, are you insane?" Rebecca questioned, pressing her back further into the the trunk. "You said you trust me, now I need you to do that." Addison whispered, both freezing as the voice came through. "If we can't have the head of your brother, then you'll do."

Rebecca took a deep breath, darting over to the other trunk.

"She went that way!" Someone yelled, before they all paused when Addison stepped towards another tree trunk, breaking a branch before pressing back against the original trunk, her fingers wrapped around the knife that was tucked prettily in the sheath that was pressed against her thigh. "There's two!" Someone concluded, cold laughter filling the air as Addison looked over at Rebecca. "Maybe it's that wife of his, he really did a shotgun wedding to secure his position." Another voice said coldly, only to be met with snickers from other men. "Or to protect her pretty little head, that Son's of Lucifer bastard was bitching about wanting her dead a few months back." The voice rang out, while the footsteps got closer, Addison's eyes closing as she tried to still her breathing. "Can't say I blame Barnes for wifing her up, she sure is a pretty little thing."

The voices were getting louder, the footsteps hitting the ground with such force that Addison could feel the vibrations against the dirt.

The man stepped in her line of sight, back facing her, oblivious to Addison behind him. Flipping the knife in her hand, she used her entire force to shove the blade into the mans shoulder, a loud yell leaving his lips as he dropped to the ground, his eyes wide as Rebecca ran up, her hands wrapping around his head, her knee coming up to collide with his nose, his body dropping to the earth. Footsteps got louder as men started to search for the yell, the cover of darkness being their savior as Addison pulled the knife from the mans shoulder, wiping it against his suit jacket and sliding it back into its place against her thigh. Rebecca quickly grabbed his gun from his waist, Addison finding her hand and pulling her towards the busy city streets.

They ran with everything in them, cold air filling their lungs, skin becoming wet with the falling raindrops.

They were oblivious to the men who had followed them, watching in amusement as they slipped behind a dumpster in an abandoned alleyway. Both girls had doubled over, breaths coming out in wheezes as arms wrapped around waists to keep propped up. "Who are they?" Addison asked, freezing when a knife was pressed to her cheek, an arm wrapping around her upper body, eyes locking on Rebecca who also had a knife pressed to her cheek. "It won't matter who we are, as long as the boss gets your heads on a platter he'll be pleased," the man behind Addison stated, his voice vibrating against her back, "I'm surprised George let you two out of his sights alone." The man behind Rebecca finished his friends sentence, ignoring the glances that the two girls were sharing.
