Guilt.

That's the only word that could come to Bucky's mind at the look on Warners face while Addison leaned tiredly against him. "There you are sweet girl." Bucky murmured gently, his voice carrying over the low hum of the bass in the room, opening his arms up for his tired wife. She smiled her sunshine smile as she pressed off her brother, immediately walking into Bucky's awaiting embrace, melting into his body while he wrapped his arms around her, shielding her from the rest of the room. "Mom and dad are going to take you home, go find them." He spoke soothingly, tilting her head up to capture her lips in a gentle kiss, smiling as she nodded, pulling away to look back at Warner. "I'll take him don't worry." Bucky concluded, ignoring the inquisitive look that rested on Addison's features, his palm pressing against her cheek softly, smiling down at her with a love that no one could replace. "I love you." She spoke securely, leaning up to press one more kiss to his lips before walking around him, taking George's offered elbow.

Bucky smiled watching Addison switch from his fathers elbow to Steve's disappearing out of the hall. "It's fine man, I can just have Addison take me another day, I know you must be tired." Warners voice cut through Bucky's thoughts, stopping his trance as he turned to face his brother in law. "No it's quite alright, I think you and I are due for a chat anyway." Bucky stated, snapping his fingers as one of the employee's rushed up to him, fishing the Porsche keys from his pocket, placing the metal into his hand before rushing off. "Now, whenever you're ready we can head out." Bucky's tone was nonchalant, twisting the cufflinks around his wrists, face showing now emotion but a small smile at the way Warner nervously rose to his feet, tossing the jacket he had lent his sister over his shoulder. "I would hate to keep you waiting." Warner replied, gesturing for Bucky to lead the way, following after him like a lost puppy.

Maybe Warner was a smart man after all.

The ride was silent, the interior of the car illuminated by the passing city lights. The onyx sky that reside above them once meant day for Bucky, but now he adorned those blue skies he got to share with the love of his life. The wrought iron gates appeared before them, Bucky quickly shutting off the ignition before stepping out, the headlights illuminating the way. He knew once he got home, Addison would ask questions, seeing that she never brought him here herself, though she shouldn't be surprised that Bucky had eyes on her at all times. She was his most prized person in his life, he could handle a scratch landing on her if she was in his eyesight, but if he couldn't bear witness to the intensity of the wound, he would lose his mind. Bucky followed the path Addison had taken those many days ago, stopping in front of the gravestone that was illuminated by a little light. Warner kneeled down, running his hand across the engraving with a small sigh before leaning his head against the stone slab.

"I spent so many years hating her," Warner spoke suddenly, jolting Bucky out of his thoughts, his body kneeling beside his brother in laws, "God I hated her so much, and then she said tonight that she didn't have a choice and that dad kept me shielded from the life he lived." Warners voice cracked, tears rolling down his cheeks as he turned to look at Bucky. "How bad was it, how bad was her life?" He choked out, Bucky meticulously searching his face before he leaned back on his heels. "Rough, she was in the room the day your father died, he hid her under the bed if I remember correctly, you'd have to ask her though more about it, she doesn't share details of that night," Bucky started, folding his hands in his lap while Warner leaned back, listening with intensity, "her mother was an alcoholic-" Bucky continued, pausing as Warner interjected, "Was?"

Bucky looked at him stunned, before nodding.

"Her mother was killed the day after the Son's of Lucifer found her, we only learned that recently. She was forced into a life her soul did not deserve to be in, the anger you have for her is truly misplaced Warner. If you would've let you in she would've been the greatest blessing in your life." Bucky stated, rising to his feet, sticking his hand out for the man. "I should kill you for making her weak, for attacking her in the alleyway all those years ago, because I know what she must've looked like, how pained she must've been, for trying to kill my own flesh and blood," Bucky spoke coldly, helping Warner to his feet, "the only reason I don't is because I see that sparkle in her eye of hope, just like the night I fucking found her on the brink of death when she asked me to protect her, and I can't be the one to fucking break her. I love her so god damn much I would never forgive myself for watching that sparkle disappear."
