Chapter 23: Nathan Walker. (Part II.)

(Wandering while a little empty stomached, I found my way to the cafe..
It was pretty empty with only some students around.
After a small line I reached the front and ordered a coffee.
With a smile the Barista nodded and I quickly noticed his name tag)

"Oh wait, you're Alex?"
(He looked at me, confused but still with a smile)

Alex: Do I know you?

Nathan: Well no, but I heard about you from Bryan.

Alex: Ah, you're friends with him huh?

Nathan: Not really "friends", but yes I do know him.

Alex: Here's a little gift from me.
(After my coffee was done he sprinkled some extra chocolate on top of it)
Don't tell anyone. (He winked)

Nathan: Thank you. (My stomach turned a little since I was still hungry)
Um, can I get two donuts as well?

Alex: Sure bud.
(After he packed it, I input my card. But he informed me something I didn't wanna hear..)
Oh- it got declined. Wanna try again?

Nathan: Oh-. Yeah, no. Umm I'll take one donut if that's okay?

Alex: Sure..
(After paying for what I bought I exited the cafe.
Sitting on a nearby bench as I thought about what N and Aiden said, but first I needed to make a call..)

"Hey Dad.."

Dad: Hi Nathan! Called after a long time huh? How's the year going? (He talked joyously)

Nathan: Yeah it's going great.

Dad: How's Zoe? I try to call her but she insists that I should text her and you know I'm not the biggest texter.

Nathan: She's good as well.

Dad: Sorry we couldn't inform you about her plan but she wanted it to be a big surprise!

Nathan: It's okay..
(Dad finally seemed to notice something was wrong)

Dad: You okay? You seem a little down..
(I sighed)

Nathan: My card declined again..
The account needs some money.

Dad: Oh.. Yeah! Would fifty dollars work?
You know how things are-

Nathan: Yeah I know, yeah it'll work..
It's just, I owe a lot to N and Aiden.. They handle a lot of the expenses and they never bother me about it but I feel bad.

Dad: I understand, Zoe is there as well so it's a little hard. But, I'll send you a hundred so you can pay them both twenty-five, is that okay?

Nathan: Yeah, thank you.
By the way, I'm looking for part time jobs but it's a little hard-

Dad: No, No- finish your education first and then we'll see. Yeah it's a little tight but things will work out.
I'm planning to sell our backyard to our neighbors who want to expand and once this construction is over we'll rent out the bottom floor.

Nathan: Are you sure about that?

Dad: Hey, I'm not selling the house.
When you guys grow up this will always be a relaxing place for you two.
It's just.. we really could use the extra money
Oh- I have to go, take care.

Nathan: You too, bye Dad. And tell Mom I said Hi.

Dad: Will do.
(With that he hung up..
. . .
After I was done with my food, I had time to kill and keys to return, so I made my way to the library..
The ground was still wet and muddy from the storm last night.

The librarian thanked me as I gave her the keys,
I wasn't really planning to stay but someone had other plans..)

"Hey NATHAN!"
(Someone loudly called out to me,
I quickly turned around to see it was Bryan.
I immediately shushed him, placing my finger in front of my lips as a gesture.
He realized that he was screaming in a library and calmed down.
I made my way towards him as he looked around embarrassingly.)
