Natasha had taken time off work to help get Y/N settled into his new life. was in her apartment with Y/N watching him as he slept with his head on her lap, they were watching TV and Y/N had fallen asleep. She smiled at how cute he was as she ran her hands through his H/C hair.

'This is what being a mother feels like huh? Feels nice.' She thought to herself as a knock came at the door, waking Y/N up, Nat calmed him down as he began to panic thinking that the people from the orphanage were here to take him from her.

"Hey, sh sh sh. It's okay, it's just Mama's friend coming around to check on us." Nat said in a comforting tone. She went to answer the door and saw Clint and Laura stood there with the two kids Cooper and Lila.

"Hello Auntie Nat!" Cooper and Lila said as they hugged Natasha.

"Fury said you had some good news for all of us." Clint said as he noticed Y/N peeking over the back of the couch with worry.

"Clint, Laura, kids, this is Y/N, he's...my son." Natasha said as The Barton children approached their cousin and began to say hi.

Clint and Laura were both taken back by the news, Natasha had told them that before she was sterilized she had a child who was killed.

"Natasha, how is that even possible?" Clint asked as Nat looked at him with a face of pure joy.

"I don't know, one of the doctors saw him collapse of malnutrition and brought him in to help him, we took a blood sample and when we ran it through the databases to find a parent or guardian so we could give him back, the results just kept saying I was his biological mother." Natasha said as Clint looked at her and embraced her along with Laura.

"So...how old is he?" Laura asked seeing a hint of a scar peaking out at the top of Y/N's back, just past the neckline of his shirt.

"Five years old, when we brought him in he had the mind of a fully grown adult, knew basic survival skills, knew how to pickpockets, stuff like that, then when he settled in all that was locked away at the back of his mind, now he's just like any five year old, mentally." Nat said as Clint watched the boy, he looked nervous and overwhelmed.

"Cooper, Lila, can you come here for a minute." Laura said as the two of them ran over to their parents. "Now, Coop, Lila, Y/N is a little shy, he's had a rough time before meeting auntie Nat, so I want you both to be kind to him and if he looks uncomfortable with something then I want you both to check on him okay."

The Two Barton children nodded and ran back to Y/N before they pulled him into a bear hug

The Two Barton children nodded and ran back to Y/N before they pulled him into a bear hug.

"Well that was the best we were ever gonna get from them." Clint said as Nat and Laura smiled.

"So, have you done any mother/son bonding yet?" Laura said as Natasha smiled.

"Yeah, we went out shopping to get him some clothes and stuff the other day, got some ice cream."

"Lots of toys I'm guessing too." Laura said as Nat smiled.

"Just the one and a few dvd's to watch together. He chose some and I chose a few. He loves the LEGO Indiana jones stuff I got."

(Indiana Jones and Star Wars were my childhood, mainly Indie. The complete saga and the LEGO Indiana jones games were the best games of their time. Just stating stone cold Steve Austin facts.)

"What'd he choose?"

"What'd he choose?"

"He chose Star wars because of the lasers and teddies, I got him some The Indiana Jones box set but I've made sure to skip over the melting faces stuff and the nightmare fuel." Nat said as Laura laughed.

"So he likes Indie then?" Laura said as Nat gave an 'oh yes' nod.

"Indie, Star Wars and Batman, I let him watch the animated series." Nat said as they laughed.

"How's he been then since settling in?" Clint asked as Nat looked over to Y/N who was talking to Lila and Cooper.

"He's happy, he's still getting used to it all you know." Nat said as Clint nodded.

"Yeah, poor kid, how can people do that to a kid?" Clint said as he looked at the boy.

"Well, we best get going, we're heading out to a restaurant for the night." Laura said as Nat smirked.

"You take care alright." Nat said as she hugged her friends before hugging Lila and Cooper, wishing them all a goodbye. When Natasha returned to Y/N she picked him up and hugged him. "Come on kiddo, time for you to get some shut eye."

"I'm not tired." Y/N said with a yawn earning a smile from Nat.

Nat carried her son up the stairs and by the time they reached Y/N's room his head was resting on Nat's shoulder and he was asleep.

'Not tired my ass.' Nat thought to herself as she placed Y/N on the bed and tucked him in before heading out, turning the light out and heading to her own room.

Nat was in the middle of reading 'Casino Royale' when she heard Y/N screaming in terror. She ran in and saw him fighting thin air with his eyes closed, as she tried to comfort her he accidentally punched her in the nose, after another attempt she managed to calm him down by singing American Pie to him, when he was asleep Natasha went to the bathroom and cleaned her nose.

'Damn, for a five year old he packs a punch when he's pissed off.' Nat thought as she went back to Y/N and slept next to him to watch over him and stop more nightmares. When she woke up she saw that the bed was empty and Y/N was sitting looking in the corner.

"Y/N, what's up?"

"I hit you." Y/N said as Nat remembered what had happened.

"No, that wasn't you kiddo, it was an accident, you didn't mean to." Natasha said as she knelt down next to Y/N. "You were scared and you didn't know. Come here."

She pulled Y/N into a hug.

"I hurt you."

"It's okay, what about your hand?" Nat asked as Y/N tried to hide it. "Come on, let's get that sorted. Does it hurt?"

Y/N nodded.

"Well, pain only make us stronger. Come on, I'll put some ice on that and then we can have pancakes." Nat said as she saw Y/N's head perk up at the word pancakes, she let a tender smile take over as she guided Y/N to the kitchen.
