Hailee's glam squad gets Hailee set up in the middle of y/n's hotel room in front of a big floor-to-ceiling window that is letting in tons of natural light. Each artist gets to work and starts to unpack their supplies. Law starts to pull in a rack of outfits for Hailee and y/n to go through and choose looks from. Patrick rolls in a makeup suitcase and begins to work on Hailee's makeup, while Tom starts to find a nail color that would work with all of the outfit colors.

So as a noob in this business is this how it usually goes?

Honestly, yeah what you see is what you get. Sometimes we have music going most of the time I'm left to just scroll on my phone text my mom aka my agent, or just scroll through my social look at fan edits and all that fun stuff. It's not every day I have a friend like you here, but when they are we just sit and chat.

Ok, but since you chose 2 of my songs why were those the ones you chose, most people chose most girls or starving. especially back to life, it was a movie feature and it didn't do that well.

Well let's start with Back to life

Ok Hey Siri play "back to life" by Hailee Steinfeld

ok now you made this track but you hear what I'm assuming is that synth dun nuh nuh and then that constant almost Phil collins Tarzan style drum music to my ears I dunno there's something about it that's just so easy to vibe to.

Now on to I love you's I just love the message I haven't gone through too many relationships dating-wise. But god damn I've lost so many close friends the kind that when you lose them you kinda have to mourn them like they're an ex-bf or gf because you shared so much with them and they knew you inside and out. So for me, the song really just hits the message of no we need to be good before we make any new friends and get betrayed like we just were. But also sonically that bassline and AGAIN the Phil collins Esque drums and that sample I mean it's a banger through and through a solid 10/10 song.

so what I'm learning is you appreciate a good bassline

Definitely but it isn't the first or the only thing I look for in a song.

Like the first songs that come to mind for me are Halsey's songs specifically strangers, castle, and more strangers when you listen has a synth of some sort in the back do do do doo, and a twinkle note? that's the best description I can think of. Castle in the chorus there's just a background progression that makes all the hairs on my back stand up especially hearing it live. Then there's more it's arguably one of her most different songs but there's an effect that makes it sound like a sonogram, and then at the end where it's muffled to kind of mimic them singing to her child in her belly. It's truly genius if you ask me.

well, anyways you're probably tired of hearing me talk about music.

no really it is refreshing to hear from someone who not only takes music whether it be mine or another artist's music at not just face value but reads into the lyrics and either listens to songs so much or so closely that they notice tiny things that artists just put in to keep themselves entertained. because let me tell you when we made Back to life I didn't think anyone could enjoy it in the ways that you just described. Especially that synth I just put it in there for fun.

well, that just for fun synth has resulted in me dancing around my kitchen often.

Well, thank you it's all thanks to Patrick I would look like I had been attacked by a trash panda had I done any of this myself. I mean my makeup has been done for me since I was oh, I don't know, about 14. I've slowly picked up on how to do it little by little but definitely not taking Patrick's job anytime soon.

OOOOOOH MY! Tom! These nails are killer, truly a favorite they are so simple yet elegant just perfect for this shoot thank you!

oooh those are so pretty I love that the marbled effect is the white base and the grey marble and the gold accents.

I know I'm gonna need tom to do this to my kitchen counters these nails are stunning and they'll go perfect with all the outfits you and law put together.

Yeah about that I just had law put the outfits together we got busy talking but he just had way too many exquisite outfits for me to even try to choose a few favorites out of that rack would be a crime. 

Well, it sounds like we're just about done here, Patrick just has to put on my lashes and a quick lip. Tom is just packing up and law, well law has been done for a while as a matter of fact I think he's already taken the outfits to the shoot.

Patrick finishes Hailee's makeup, Y/n and Hailee grab all of their things bags, phones, chargers, martini of course, and head to the Mercedes van out front of the hotel and head to the shoot location in a local studio across town.
