With Pete insisting to do the dishes y/n had tried to say that she would clear them. Pete wasn't going to have any of that since y/n had already spent the last hour or so in the kitchen cooking the lovely meal they had just eaten. When Cheri and Griffin had tried to volunteer in place of y/n they got the same answer that it really was fine no assistance was needed. However, he did want Hailee to jut open the sliding glass door for him since his hands were full, which had then turned into Hailee helping her dad. Not that he had asked but she had simply insisted and Pete knew better than to tell her no. After about two and a half trips all of the plates, trays, and silverware had made their way in the house and to the kitchen sink. This is where Pete stood hand washing all of the trays as he handed them off to his dish dryer Hailee. As they made their way through the dishes they couldn't help but look out the window above the sink at the party that was continuing in the backyard.

Y'know she gets along well with them.

I have never once seen Griffin laugh that hard at anyone's jokes.

Mom has also never once wanted to help anyone who isn't related to us with dinner.

Pete: Yeah Y/N really is a great fit.

I mean she gets along with everyone really well. Very go-with-flow laid-back individual yet incredibly well-spoken.

That one is really wise beyond her years at just twenty-two.

I never thought i'd ever date anyone this much younger than me.

Something just clicked between us though.

I see that look in your eyes.

I love her.

The issue with my record label, the mess that is me trying to release a song...

Y/n just gets me.

She always knows what I need to hear.

Oh yeah?

Yeah, Dad.

I played coast for her, or at least the part that was ready. Naturally, she asked if there was more eventually I told her how I was nervous about the clip being used in the core Ads because it's just not ready yet.

How I just didn't know when or if the song would ever see the light of day.

Well, are you gonna tell me what she said?

Hailee had taken the serving tray her dad had just rinsed and started to dry it when she paused and stood a little straighter than she had been.

 Well that's just it Dad.

She didn't, well not immediately that is.

She sat there for a minute and eventually when she did respond she didn't use her words she just hugged me. When she stepped away after the hug she looked me in the eyes and said we'd get through this. That it wasn't something I had to do alone if I didn't want to.

Pete had stopped his aggressive scrubbing on the plate that griffin had somehow gotten cheese stuck to and a smile began to grow on his face the longer Hailee talked.
