//4.17: revised chapter

-

She's so perfect.
I don't know how she doesn't see herself as perfect.
I've been with her for 10 years. I've seen her yell, laugh, cry, I've seen every single side of her.
To me, Leah is a goddess.

-

"What're you doing?" I asked, walking into the bedroom. She was on her hands and knees, picking up something.
"It's gotta be spotless in here, there's so much garbage behind my table!" She said, sounding exasperated.

"Why are you deep cleaning, especially in here?"
"Didn't I tell you? Li and the kids are coming over tomorrow! Tomorrow, Byakuya! I don't want them to think the manor is a shithole!"
"It's not that bad, you can't even notice the stuff back there."

Everything I don't notice, she does. "There's something back here," "There's something under the bed," tiny things. That's just what makes her special. Sometimes, her pickiness about the way things need to be makes me laugh.

"You're so pretty," I thought.
"I can see your ass," I jokingly said.
"That's the least of my worries right now, Byakuya," Leah said, obviously faking her seriousness. "Could you get me the vacuum?"
"Yes," I laughed.

-

Constantly, I think to myself about how I, some random heir to some big company, ended up with her; some commoner with a ton of trophies. How did someone as cold-hearted as I, end up with someone as happy as her?

I didn't think I was capable of love until that day. The day when she said, "Byakuya, why don't I take you to the library? Not for reading of course, that's boring." That same day, she said, "I'd loved you for weeks, months, maybe a year. I still do, Byakuya." That day -- I knew it was possible.

I had fallen in love with this girl. This random cyclist that I got trapped with, I fell in love with.

And I'd do it all again.

-

"Is your freak clean-up done?" I asked, staring at the spotless manor.
"Yeah, I'd say so," Leah answered, a huge smile on her face.

There was nothing, and I mean absolutely nothing but the decor and furniture. In about 6 hours total, 2 days, 3 hours each day, she had managed to get everything picked up and put away. Wiped down, dusted, all of it.

"Alright, now I have to get ready, which is a huge problem, because they'll be here in about 2 hours."
"Why're you so worried about time for getting ready?"
"I look like a zombie right about now, I got about 4 hours of sleep, been putting my blood, sweat and tears into cleaning so that I -- no, we, make a good impression, and I have to wash one more plate."

"It's okay," I reassured. "You go do whatever you have to do, I'll take care of the plate."
"Thank you. Feel like you just lifted 25,000 pounds off my shoulders even though it's just some stupid plate."

"Some stupid plate, huh? I don't think it's that dumb."

"Some people don't think the same way as you, Byakuya. She's just stressed."

-

I walked upstairs to assess myself. I looked fine, good, even. But there was something off.

Facial expressions? Eh, no. Not it.

My outfit was fine.

Hair was, too.

"Whatcha' doing?"

That was it.

I was alone. Feels clingy, but it felt different without her right next to me.

-

Later on in the day, Leah's aunt, cousins, nieces, nephews, whatever they were, honestly, i'd have to ask her arrived. They, namely Li, complimented the house, and her and leah got into talking about cleaning, while her oldest son started talking to me, Byakuya the Blondie.

-

The kids were off on their own, playing some games they brought over. Leah, Li and I had played a couple of rounds, but eventually got back to talking.

"Hey, Byakuya," Li started. "You've been kind of distant today. Are you alright?"

I sat there.

How was I supposed to react to that?
"You've been kind of distant." Who knows how to respond to that. So, i looked over at her.

It's okay, he's just taking in all of the festivities from today," Leah said.

-

I still didn't know how to respond, even after they left.

I'm just quiet, not very outgoing, and she knows that.
Just glad I had someone to cover for me.

"Hey, thanks for answering for me today," I tiredly said.
"No worries! That's what I'm for, Byakuya," Leah answered, still full of energy.

-

I love you.
I always will.
