Hailee's POV
"I don't think I can take another bite." huffed (Y/N), holding her hand to her stomach. "I find that to be very, very doubtful." I tell her, giving her a smirk. "Shut up, Steinfeld." she dismissed, causing me to laugh. "Okay, okay!" I giggle, taking out my phone to reveal that I was recording her. "You're so mean, y'know that?" she says, "You love me!" I sneer at her. She shakes her head, nodding right after, "Can't argue with that." she says.I gush at her words, leaning in to kiss her. No matter how much (Y/N) and I have kissed — I'll always smile at us do it. I can't help it. "What was that for?" she asks, pulling away and caressing my cheek with her thumb. "For being the cutest human being." I tell her. She kisses me one last time, "Well, shall we go?" she asks, pointing to the exit. I nod, standing up to leave the restaurant.
We start to walk out, trying our best to ignore the fact that paparazzi were snapping pictures. I roll my eyes at them. But they didn't see that under my sunglasses. "Love how you roll your eyes under those." said (Y/N) as she looked at me. "How did you —" "It's pretty obvious to me, y'know." she responds, knowing my question already. I smile — is there anything she doesn't know about me? "Caught me." I say, wrapping my arms around the right side of her waist.
The lights turn red, giving pedestrians the thumbs up to cross the road. We start to walk across the street until — "HAILEE! MOVE!" yelled (Y/N), pulling me out of the way close to her. I jump at the sudden action. I hold on to her, only to see a large truck speed past me — and speeding like the devil at that. Everyone saw what had happened, all started to curse the driver out but much to their surprise, two police cars speed past us, chasing the truck in hot pursuit.
"What the f—?" I huff. "Are you okay?" asks (Y/N). We reach the other side of the road, safely near our home by now. "Umm, yeah. Yeah — where did that truck come from?" I ask, still trying to come to terms that I could've died. "Thank God you're okay. I don't know where that truck came from." said (Y/N), pulling me close to her chest. I hold her tighter.
Just then, I hear a soft sob. I look up to see (Y/N) in tears. "Woah, woah. You okay, (Y/N/N)?" I ask her, holding her waist. "I'm good. I'm just a tad shocked, it's all." she tells me. I nod in understanding. She'd lost her grandpa in a car accident a few years back. So anything along the lines cars and crashes have hit different or her.
"I could've lost you today." sobbed (Y/N), looking down at the ground. "I find that very, very doubtful." I tell her, cupping her face in my hands. I bring her face to look at me. "You're never gonna lose me, okay?" I assure her. She weakly nods, kissing my hands that still cupped her face. "I love you so much, Hailee. You need to know that." she tells me, pulling me close to her again.
I hold her tighter, "I love you more, (Y/N/N)." I tell her. She buries her face in my shoulders, kissing me. Her kisses trail across my neck, then jaw and my cheeks. She then finds my lips, placing a passionate kiss on it. I kiss her back. "Thank you for saving me, though." I tell her, laying my head on her. "No need to thank me. I was willing to jump in front of you if push came to shove." she tells me.
I smile at her remark, kissing her neck. "Let's go home and just — relax." I suggest. "I'd love that." she tells me. I take her hand, intertwining it in mine. Smiling, we both go home — making sure no truck was around this time — for my safety and (Y/N)'s PTSD, of course.
