the rain came down hard, maddy was leaning over max's bed, her head practically on the floor. she had just finished brushing her teeth, and el was doing so. the room was filled with silence until max spoke up, "did diana start hanging out around ezra?"
max knew the answer, she just wanted someone to confirm it, "it's because of me, isn't it?" maddy sat up and looked at her.
"yeah." she whispered. "it was the day after the dance. she saw you dance with lucas and ran off. ezra followed her."
"god, he's such a creep." max muttered, "he seems nice. i just don't get why i hate him so much."
"you're jealous."
"what? of him? what's there to be jealous of?" max rolled her eyes at maddy's statement. the brunette only looked her in the eye, "am i jealous of him?"
"you tell me." she shrugged. "i can't dictate your feelings." el exited the bathroom, she covered herself with max's blankets and maddy got up so el could lay down, then sat down next to her.
"which one?" max asked, holding up two comic books.
"i don't know." el said, she still seemed uneasy so max set down the two comics on the bed.
"hey, there's nothing to worry about anymore, okay?" max reassured.
"it doesn't make sense."
"what doesn't make sense?" max questioned.
"heather." el looked up at max, "the blood. the ice."
"heather had a fever, so she took a cold bath, but she's better now." max explained. "that has to be it. i don't know where that blood came from, but... we saw her. we all did. she's totally fine."
"what about billy?" the two brunettes asked.
"what about him?" max looked at maddy who shrugged then back at el.
