"vecna." max stated. nancy was quick to notice diana's eyes rolling back and her getting locked in a trance. she felt her blood run cold, as she tried shaking the girl awake.
"diana?" she asked, worriedly. everyone in the room turned to her. "shit!" she cursed.
vecna had taken two people at once. lydia and diana. "she loves kate bush!" max suddenly exclaimed, going to take off her headphones but lucas stopped her.
"if vecna can take two, he can take more. we can't risk it. you can't risk it!" max opened her mouth to protest but nancy shook her head, turning to eddie.
"do you have any tapes?" she asked him, and he nodded and led them to his room. nancy ordered erica to stay put, try and wake diana even though it wouldn't work, and apparently deliver messages from steve.
diana began whimpering but it stopped quickly which caused erica to worry. she shook to girls shoulders, called her name, but nothing worked. despite the younger girls plead's, diana stayed locked in her trance.
her eyes white, shaky breaths escaping from her mouth. some breaths getting caught in her throat, it was scary for the 11 year old girl to witness. she didn't know diana that well but she didn't want diana's bones to break just like the others, especially right in front of her.
she hid the trauma from even being involved slightly the year prior deep inside of her and her friend... acquaintance more like, dying right in front of her in the most gruesome way possible was the last thing she needed. "diana!" she shouted, a series of whimper's escaped from the girls mouth in response. erica felt so helpless and she hated it. she wanted to do something to help but she couldn't.
"whatever you guys are doing up there, hurry up!" steve suddenly yelled from the upside down. despite not wanting too, erica ran off to deliver steve's message.
"steve says you need to hurry!" erica exclaimed.
"yeah? no shit!" dustin yelled back.
"we're trying. we can't find anything." max told her in response.
