Chapter 61- Duel

The recruits looked at you with confused faces, waiting for explanation. You soon explained everything to them, starting from who you are, why and how you are here, your relationship with Signora and the Fatui. They were all surprised hearing so many things about you that they could have never guessed by the way you were acting up till now.

"So, you mean to say you have been living with the Fatui for the past 6 months? Then why were you in the induction ceremony?" one recruit asked.

"Well, I officially joined yesterday. Up till now I made a deal with Signora in order to gain alliance with the Fatui for my goal which was to find my brother."

"Then....you officially joined because....?"

"U-Um....because, you know...."

You blushed and looked at Signora shyly causing the recruits to look at you wide-eyed.

"Love....?"

"U-Uh....y-yes..."

You trailed off and looked down while your face reddened up even more. There was silence in the hall for a while then everyone chuckled in unison.

"Haha, then why are you participating in this welcome ceremony? You are far stronger and experienced than any of us."

"W-Well, I felt it would be unfair if I was sitting in a corner and watching you all do this. I'm still considered a new recruit, after all...."

"Enough."

Signora ordered from the side and walked beside you with her arms folded over her chest.

"Time for questions and answers is over now. I believe everyone has received satisfactory answers and all misunderstandings have been cleared. We will proceed with the ceremony as usual."

"Ma'am, may I say something?"

One recruit spoke and raised his hand from the back of the crowd, Signora sighed and nodded then he walked up front and glared at you.

"Ma'am, the previous 2 tests were unfair."

Everyone was taken by surprise at his bold claim, Signora squinted her eye then walked closer to him.

"State you name."

"Anton, ma'am."

"Anton, so tell me why you think the previous 2 tests were unfair."

"Ma'am, Y/n was doing exceptionally well in them. She must have already known what tests there will be and was prepared."

"Are you doubting Y/n's skills and questioning my fair methods of testing?"

Signora's glare darkened and her tone became sharper, this scared Anton and he hesitated to say more then someone else spoke as well.

"I-I also think the same as Anton, ma'am."

Signora looked at the person with the same icy glare and became even more annoyed.

"Looks like that room will be used quite early this year."

A chill ran up everyone's spine at her heavy tone, she was about to walk in front of them then you stopped her.

"W-Wait, Signora, I have a suggestion."

Your voice calmed her down and she turned to look at you.

"What is it, Y/n?"

"Their point is valid, it's natural that they think I cheated. They haven't been with me for 6 months like others so they don't know my skills."
