Chapter 82- Delve

You came out of Jester's office and walked towards the end of the corridor then leaned on the wall while holding your head. Your heart was pounding uncontrollably, you thought at one point he was going to kill you by the tone of his voice. You glanced at the pawn in your hand and clenched it near your chest.

"I want to remove it from your collection.....Argh! I said that so confidently but I don't know how! She's not going to leave the Fatui so easily even if I request! Not to mention, I don't know if she can even leave by her choice without being branded a traitor....Hah~ This is going to be difficult, and if I become a Harbinger as well then....Damnit, he's got me surrounded!"

You sighed and continued to walk away, "No, I can't give up so soon....I need to remain resilient if I want to get her out of his kind of life and make her see herself as a human having her own life and not a sacrificial pawn for other-"

"Y/n!" your thoughts were interrupted by a familiar voice calling your name followed by a pair of arms being wrapped around your head.

"Finally! Are you alright?! What happened there?!" Of course, it was Signora. 

You smiled and wrapped your arms around her too, "Were you waiting for me?"

"Yes, I came as soon as the training was over but they didn't let me in so I have been waiting here."

Your heart fluttered hearing that then she let go and cupped your face to gaze at you, "What did you talk about?"

You hesitated for a moment then smiled, "Can we go home first? I'm really hungry."

She was slightly surprised but nodded then proceeded to walk towards the carriage in order to return to her residence with you. Inside the carriage, both of you didn't speak much. She glanced at you a few times seemingly wanting to say something but held back until you reached home. At the dinner table, you were sitting beside each other and eating as usual.

Sanguine was perched on the table the whole time, he looked at you then flew over to sit atop your head and pecked on it, making you yelp out in pain. Signora chuckled looking at you two then brough a spoonful near your mouth, taking you by surprise as you thought she would feed Sanguine instead but gladly took the bite then went upstairs to your shared room.

She changed into her nightwear then put Sanguine in his cage and climbed up on the bed beside you, laying down and holding you close. She caressed your head for a while then finally gathered courage to talk once again.

"My love, will you tell me now?"

You nodded then sat up and she did too, you hesitated more and she kept her hand on top of yours then smiled.

"We were just playing chess normally at first then he....he asked me to become the 6th Harbinger."

Her eye widened in shock; she had considered many things Jester could have talked about but this never crossed her mind. She had thought he'd stop pursuing you since you already joined but looks like she was wrong.

"I didn't give any answer currently, I wanted to discuss with you first."

"Is...that all? That's all he talked about?"

"Pretty much...." "...Rest was unnecessary anyways"

"I see...."

She trailed off and looked down to ponder, there was an awkward silence between you two and none of you could figure out what to say. 

"I....I'll refuse him, I know you had told me earlier you don't want me to and I'll listen to you. I don't want a repeat of the recent events...."
