Chapter 70- History

Three days passed as your time with Dottore went on, going to him every morning and letting him do various experiments on your body for the sake of Signora's wish. His methods seemed strange to you; he was cruel for sure but it was nothing you couldn't handle. It was quite unlike the stories you had heard about him; about the horrors he inflicts on his test subjects some of which were right in front of your eyes as seen by the various machinery in his labs.

Of course, you didn't mind that, if anything it was quite relieving to you but that didn't mean you could rest easy. For all you knew, he could be planning something and waiting for the right opportunity to strike just like how he waited all these months for this time with you.

"Dottore, how long have you been with the Fatui?"

"My, are you interested in my past, Traveler? Are you finally ready to move on from Signora?"

"Ugh, stop it. I want to know something regarding Signora."

"Yes, of course you do. Hah~ should I say decades or centuries? Which one is more believable to you?"

"Both are. But.....I suppose centuries a little more."

His eyes widened for a moment then he smirked as he picked up another knife from the table.

"What exactly do you want to know about her?"

"About her delusion....how it works, where it is placed and.....what will happen if it malfunctions."

"Interesting. If you are asking about this then I suppose you already know about her other powers."

"Of course, I do. I saw them with my own eyes."

"How fortunate. And here I have been pursuing her to show them to me for so long~"

"She didn't really show them to me willingly, she was more or less forced to...."

"Well, whatever let's move on. So, let me tell you that I did not make her delusion, it was Jester and Her Majesty who did it." he brought the knife near your chest.

"She was here before me hence I only heard about this from Jester and read in some confidential records. She was in a very critical state when Jester brought her here and had to be operated on as soon as possible, he gave her a temporary delusion as they came here but there had to be a permanent solution." he removed the fabric of your shirt out of the way and pointed the knife in the middle of your chest.

"The art of liquid fire is very mysterious, even I don't know much about it. All I know is that her heart was filled with fire and had to be saved first out of anything. Back then, the delusion technology was still in its early phase hence none of the normal delusions could work on her. Jester made a gamble and created a new type of delusion right on spot; apparently, he had been thinking of it for quite some time. Can you guess what type of delusion it was, Traveler?"

"Something very powerful to counter her flames directly.....do you mean it was an internal delusion?"

"Right on spot! As expected of the almighty Traveler! Indeed, most delusions are external i.e they are visible to the naked eye much like visions. Signora's delusion however, is inside her, near her heart to be precise. It's a very special kind of delusion that takes considerable time, effort and resources to make. Not to mention, it cannot be used on any normal human." he descended the tip of the knife on your skin and proceeded to make an incision.

"So, I guessed right....that's why I never saw it anywhere on her. It must have been a long and taxing procedure- aah!" you let out a small scream as Dottore inserted the knife further inside you.
