i hope everyone is well! i had a really good time writing this one, and i'm pretty okay with how it turned out :)

please enjoy!!

your night had been chaotic in the best way possible: a simple dinner out with your girlfriends, and vinnie had offered to pick you all up and give rides home due to the sheer amount of champagne he imagined would be consumed.

it won't be that much, vin, you'd said, yet here you were, sitting in the front seat of his car with two of your friends in the back chatting quietly. you'd just dropped off one, and had to make one more stop before going home.

it was a dreamy night in the city, every streetlight a little fuzzed around the edges, from the alcohol or the window you couldn't tell, but it gave an angelic feeling that made your stomach warm in delight. time spent with your girlfriends was your favorite part of living in the city, and the night had come perfect circle with all of you arriving home safely.

"just back to your apartment, girls?" vinnie clarified, and they nodded in response. vinnie knew where these girls lived, and practically everything else about them as the role of your boyfriend, and the relationship you'd watched him grow with them made your heart grow in size to think about. having a man in your life who tolerated, let alone supported, being around your friends as much as he liked to be had blown your standards out of the water.

a small squeeze to your hand pulled your thoughts away, and vinnie whispered to you, "doin' okay over there?" you giggled at the concern on his face and nodded, tucking a stray piece of hair behind your ear.

"i'm all good," you whispered back, indulging the idea of having a secluded conversation amidst the company of other people. he let a small smile fall over his lips and gave another small squeeze before gently running his thumb along the ridge of your knuckles as he kept his gaze on the road ahead of him.

"y/n, are you sure you don't wanna spend the night?" your friend asked, slightly slurred, and it made both you and vinnie chuckle at the sound of her pronunciation. you shook your head and turned it to face the girls in the back.

"my bed is calling my name right now, hun. i think waking up in your apartment with no distractions will be perfect for you tomorrow," you responded, and she giggled and nodded hazily.

"no worries, y/n, i'll take care of her." your other friend mockingly rolled her eyes but smiled nonetheless, ensuring the promise to make sure your friend wouldn't completely want to die in the morning.

"okay," vinnie breathed, spooking you slightly, causing you to turn back to the front, "i believe we're here, ladies." he put the car into park and opened his door before you could speak to him. he stepped to open the back door of the car, and a small smile grew on your lips watching your boyfriend assist your best friends. he made sure both of them got everything out of the car they wanted, and gave them both hugs before you followed suit.

"are you sure you guys don't need help getting up?" vinnie asked, slight concern in his voice. his fingers gently twitched against the curve of your back where he'd placed them moments before, an anxious tick he'd been working to get rid of.

"we're good, i promise. nothing i haven't handled before." and you all laughed at the words that you knew held truth. "you two get home safe okay? i'm expecting a text from someone." you nodded and gave them each one more hug before watching them walk all the way into their apartment building before looking at vinnie, only to find his lips on yours before you could say anything. you smiled into the kiss and giggled when he pressed hard against you before pulling away. he escorted you to the passenger side of the car and opened the door for you, making sure you were settled before walking around to his side.
