4. luna's dance

a/n:  this was a request from the comments of my last post, but the account doesn't exist apparently? so i can't dedicate it to anyone. but, if you requested one with vinnie and you as parents to a little girl, this is my adaptation of that! :)  (if you know you requested this, lmk and i can put it on here)

relationship: married, with daughter (luna is 3 years old)

the moment you stepped into the front door of your home, a smile grew on your lips as a result of the happy shrieking of your daughter followed by the strong thudding of footsteps. you shook your head at the image of what might be happening outside of the mudroom door you were currently behind, stripping off the jacket and heavy boots you were wearing to shelter you from the harsh washington winter going on outside.

after you'd successfully put everything back in its rightful place to dry for the night, you walked down the hall to the kitchen, where you saw your daughter crouched behind the island, hands grasping the granite to help her peek her head over the counter top to help spot your husband, who was currently had his knees, lurking on the other side of the island. she saw you enter the kitchen from her hiding spot, and gently rose her small finger to her lips as a signal to be quiet, you widened your eyes in mock agreement to play along with her imagination, and nodded. vinnie silently moved across the wood floor, the light padding of his bare feet going undetected by your daughter. once he'd rounded the corner of the counter and came into the sight of your daughter, she screeched and immediately sprinted across the open space into your living room, vinnie hot on her heels. "aha!" he exclaimed, his voice deep with mock emotion, a slender smile on his lips. "i gotcha!" he scooped her small body into his arms, swinging her around in a circle, a large laugh erupting from her chest.

"no, daddy, no!" she giggled, breathing hard to catch her breath between laughs. you remained against the door frame leading into the kitchen, your heart full with pure love at the sight in front of you.

"no luna, no!" he mocked back at her, slowly down his turns, your daughter clutching onto his bare biceps, still laughing at the dizzying motion.

"momma!" she exclaimed once she remembered you were home once again, attempting to squirm out of vinnie's embrace. he let her down, gently touching her feet to the wood before letting her run over to you, watching her wrap her nimble arms around your waist, a smile settling on his face. you leaned down to embrace her, meeting her at eye level. you pulled away to look at her, smoothing her unruly curls into a slightly less-chaotic looking manner.

"hi, hun," you responded, standing up to resume your full height as vinnie walked over to greet you. wrapping an arm around your waist, he placed a small kiss on your temple, looking down to see your daughter's brown orbs staring back at you.

"did you see daddy chase me?!" she exclaimed, jumping up and down at the excitement from moments before.

"i did," you answered, the enthusiasm growing in your voice to match her tone of voice. "did daddy catch you?" you looked at vinnie, a smirk growing on his face as she pouted as a response to the question, slowly nodding.

"i almost got away," she groaned, pointing to the place where she just barely missed, "but he got me before i got to the couch." she scowled at her dad, seeing the look on his face. he shrugged in response, leaning down to rub his fingers through her auburn curls, similar to his.

"maybe next time, baby." he picked her up and set her on his hip, and you watched her eyes droop slightly as he softly ran his free hand through her hair once more. you walked to the other side of the kitchen, pulling a glass out of the cupboard and filling it with water, taking a drink and looking back to vin who had started his walk over to the living room with luna still on his hip. he had that little girl wrapped around his finger, and the thought alone made you chuckle.
