rintarou was hot.
and more importantly, rintarou knew he was hot. in your brief and electric time together, he'd given you all of his attention, undivided, uncompromising.
the sky faded from prussian blue to midnight, littered with carefully placed specks of sparkly white. the music was loud and the alcohol was flowing like a river.
you didn't stop rintarou from putting his arm around your waist when both of you headed downstairs, buzzed from the joint he'd so kindly offered you.
and you were the one that took his hand when he offered it to you to dance.
and you fought the urge to look at osamu. because all you could think of was osamu.
were you being unreasonable? was it bitchy of you to flirt with his best friend on his birthday?
did he even care at all?
you felt kind of pathetic as you felt both of rin's hands holding your hips. your judgement was kind of clouded because at the same time, he was making you feel better. the night felt tolerable with him pressed against you.
his breath was hot against your collarbone, gaze calculated as he looked over your shoulder. you were lucky you were buzzed and the music was louder than your thoughts.
"who is it?", rin asked into your ear, making you shudder, "who is it that you wanna make jealous?"
he spun you so that his arms wrapped around your waist and your back was pressed against his chest. you hadn't been this close to anyone but osamu in a while.
"how do you know everything, rin?", you mumbled, tilting your head so your face was close to his.
"it's a gift", he whispered, not making an effort to pull away from you.
"so do you wanna make someone jealous too?", you whispered
but rin wasn't looking at you anymore. he was looking straight ahead, at his best friend. his best friend who had begun to dance with yukie but was looking straight at you.
so rin spun you back around to face him, leaning in closer and closer until, "it's you, isn't it?"
a kind of nervousness settled down within you as your gaze met his in the dimly lit atmosphere. he pulled you closer, making sure you could hear him over the music. you rested your hand against his chest.
"i don't know what you're talking about", you denied, even though you knew he'd caught on. he was smart.
"you're the one he's been obsessing over", rin whispered, chaining his thoughts together with incredible accuracy, "he's always so distracted, telling me about the beautiful girl he's seeing"
your gaze flickered away because you couldn't process that osamu 'obsessed' over you. and you couldn't deny how easily flustered suna made you-
you were sure it was a universal experience to be flustered by rintarou suna but that didn't make it any better.
"he's getting engaged", you clarified, your arm slowly wrapping around his neck. you looked away from him, ignoring the sinking of your stomach.
"no he's not", rin said with conviction, "yukie will probably ask him about it but he'll say no"
"how do you know?", you whispered, "she is-"
"because we are gonna show him exactly what he's missing out on"
